grief
[ɡriːf]noun
intense sorrow, especially caused by someone's death.
i grieve.
Or I've been grieving the person i could've been.
if they had been more attentive
had looked closer
had listened
but no one did.
so now i mourn
the child i could have been.but she is long gone, an adult now
with chores and responsibilities
she no longer plays with dolls
she no longer builds forts and pretends
she no longer loves her family.and I mourn her because her skin is cut up now and bruised.
her eyes don't fill with joy anymore.
her smile is no longer realbut her never ending love is still spilling out onto the cold pavement.
