Some children were simply born with tragedy in their blood— some people like Gina Miyama or Gigi, as her friends in Oya call her. Her father died in an apartment fire when she was 3 years old in the Burning Block of Hope Hill and since her mother was very short on money, they moved into the Murder Block where she met Tsuji and Shibaman and they became her best friends for life. The three of them were stuck at the hip, quickly earning the name of the murder block trio. Tsuji and Shibaman taught Gina how to fight when middle school started and when her school uniform turned from pants to short skirts. "for protection Gigi" they both told her while teaching her how to properly send an uppercut punch "you're too pretty to be weak, especially in a place like this"
Very soon they entered High school and the infamous Murder Block trio took over the full-time half of Oya High school, the O in SWORD. Not many knew it was a co-ed school since it was really only a bunch of boys that went there and no girl wanted the headache of being in a school with not only teenage boys but adults too. But Gina wanted to stay with her best friends and went to Oya High anyway. There she met Yoshiki Murayama who was mildly concerned at the sight of a girl in his school. But he saw potential in the way she fought alongside her friends and acknowledged her. She also met Yosuke Todoroki who quickly became a 4th in their trio after beating up Tsuji and Shibaman; he fit there with them so perfectly. It was fun following him. Gina thought Todoroki was a fucking loser but he was so cool too. So there they were the four of them leaders of the full-timers of Oya High school.
Gina only attended Oya High School for a year and in that year she led the full-timers along with her best friends and even was involved in a literal gang war— later to be known as the Container Yard war(Murayama got yelled at by Rocky for bringing a girl, let alone a minor to such a dangerous fight but it was fun and she got to meet a lot of people).
Gina only attended Oya High School for a year until her mother remarried. The man was... Rich. He was not a bad person though. Gina didn't really mind the man since he kept her mother happy and she could tell he loved her very much. She didn't have the best relationship with her mother but she thinks this marriage and being happy with it could be the last thing to salvage the last pieces of it, therefore she wasn't too bothered by it. What really bothered her was that she had to move away. Away from Tsuji, Shibaman and Todoroki. Sure it wasn't far and she could always come down to visit but it wasn't the same. She didn't have her best friends right there next to her anymore 24/7. But life goes on and there wasn't anything Gina could do about it.
However, seeing her acting all depressed, Gina's stepfather set her up with the son of his friend. Kōhei Amagai. Kōhei was kind of a dick. The kind of guy that was mean to everyone but her and fucking god Gina loved that. But there were a few things about Kōhei that didn't sit well with her and that was his hate for Oya High School. She didn't tell him she went there and made sure her mother or stepfather wouldn't mention it either.
