Daryl won't talk to me since Carol didn't return. I tried apologizing, but he wants nothing to do with me right now.
There's a loud explosion in the distance. "Stay here," I tell Milly, handing over Cash, before running towards the sound. The group is looking out past the fence to where a tank and a few other trucks are positioned.
"Who the fuck is knocking on our door?" I ask Rick.
"Get back to the admin building, Lilly, we've got this," he responds.
"Not happening."
"Rick! Come down here! We need to talk!" a familiar voice calls out. I thought that the weasel was dead.
"It's not up to me. There's a council now. They run this place!"
"Is Hershel on the council?" he asks. My blood runs cold when they bring the older doctor out. "Is Michonne on the council?" They bring her out next.
"I don't make decisions anymore!"
"Rick, someone's going to have to talk to him," I respond, increasingly worried by the people carrying guns near our members.
"Come down here! Let's have that talk!"
He looks at Daryl who nods. "Under no circumstances are you to get involved, Lilly. Do you understand me?"
"I'll take that into consideration."
He sighs, not arguing before heading outside the gates.
Daryl starts evacuation plans with Tyreese and the newly recovered Sasha. After, he starts passing out weapons as silently as possible. We position along the wall.
"We've got to do something," Carl whispers.
"Your dad's got it," Daryl responds.
"They're talking. I could shoot him right now."
"Not from 50 yards with a shotgun, Carl," I respond, shaking my head. "Don't interfere right now."
The Governor hops down, putting Michonne's katana against Hershel's neck. "Get ready, this is going south!" I run towards the gate, pushing it open, running towards them. His arm swings back, laying the bright blade into the older man's neck. I land a shot nicking his throat, and another into his side before I run for cover. I pull Rick behind when he falls from being struck.
"Go get Cash!" he screams at me.
"You'll die if I leave you!"
"I said go!"
I stare at him before running towards the gate, feeling the air from bullets whizzing by. Daryl grabs me, centering my body. "Get Cash, I'll catch up with you."
I shake my head. "What if we don't?"
He pulls me into a deep kiss before shoving me. "Go!" Running, I don't look back.
Milly is by the bus, holding Cash. Tiff and Ashley are behind her.
"Lil, we can't get on."
I give her an incredulous look. "What the fuck are you talking about?"
"Don't get mad." When I don't say anything, she continues. "Merle...Merle taught me some things. Like to prepare for everything to go to shit."
I wait for her to say more, crossing my arms to show my impatience.
She quickly goes on. "I stocked up a car. Hershel was helping me do it at night. I have it parked further down. Lilly, we are on our own, just like before. I'm not getting on and I want you to come with me. We will die on that bus."
I look back towards the bus, quickly filling up with elderly and sickly people. I know she's right. There's safety in numbers but not in this case.
"Let's go!"
