"So how's this gonna work?" Dashi asked curiously, "Do we switch with whoever we want, or is it random?"

"Do I look like I know?" Tweak teased.

"You look like the smartest person I know, so I just thought you might have an idea." Dashi shrugged as Tweak smiled. Dammit, her best friend was way too sweet. The tablet squashed between the two girls announced its presence with a little 'ding!', surprising everyone.

"Oh, it's random." Dashi announced, and her face fell as her eyes traveled farther down the message, "Oh no."

"What?!" Tweak jumped up at once and began reading over her shoulder.

"No effin' way. That's rigged!"

"Oh goodness; what happened?" Professor Inkling sighed exhaustedly, quite finished with his younger colleagues. Tweak pressed her lips into a thin line and showed him the tablet, making the elderly octopus wince.

"Oh my."

"Please tell me Kwazii's not going to be allowed in the lab again." Shellington moaned.

"Nope, worse." Tweak grumbled as Professor Inkling turned the tablet around, allowing everyone to see.

Peso- Captain
Dashi- Lieutenant
Shellington- Medic
Vegimals- Marine Biologist
Tweak- IT officer/Photographer
Captain- (Whatever Inkling Does)
Inkling- Engineer
Kwazii- Cook

"We're allowing Kwazii in the KITCHEN?!" Shellington exclaimed in disbelief.

"We're stupid." Squirt remarked.

"Indeed we are." Inkling sighed.

"So...what now?" Tweak asked no one in particular.

"Can me grandad stay?" Kwazii begged, "Pleeeeeaaaaaase. He can teach me how to cook and I'll be good, I promise." Everyone turned to the now Captain Peso.

"Oh, o-of course Kwazii." Peso answered gently, "He can stay."

"A mighty fine captain he's gonna be, eh, Ca- er Barnacles?" Calico Jack smiled at Peso, who nervously returned the gesture.

"Yes, that he will." Barnacles agreed as Peso blushed at the praise from two people he considered 'too cool' for him, "What say you, Captain?" Barnacles' eyes sparkled with kindness, "Are we ready?"

Peso opened his beak and hesitated for a moment before finally speaking, "Y-yes we are. Octonauts, let's do this!

"Vegimals! Attention please!" Shellington called out to all of his surrogate children, who were currently running circles around the lab. All of the cute little sprouts immediately perked up at the sound of their foster father's voice and began waddling to him at top speed... only to run into each other and knock one another to the ground. Shellington winced. 5 minutes in, and things were already beginning to go wrong.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So, what is the function of this one, precisely?" Professor Inkling inquired, holding up an upside down screwdriver as Tweak put a paw to her forehead and quickly flipped the screwdriver back the right way up. Hopefully nothing majorly important broke on the Octopod today.

"Shellington, come in!" Dashi's voice coming from the screen startled the scientist-turned-medic out of his shark outside the window-induced trance.

"Yes, Dashi?"

"Kwazii, um." She winced and stepped away to reveal a cat running around in the background and screaming because there was a spatula tangled in his tail.

"How on-?" Shellington gaped at the screen

"I have no idea." Dashi sighed.

"Very well, bring him in." Shellington shook his head. This would be a long day. Heaven forbid there was an actual emergency, because if there was, the Octonauts at the moment would be as useful as a no legged octopus.
