All this trouble I went through and then she ended up being sick. What a fucking waste of time. One part of me wanted to yell at her and tell her to get the fuck out because she wasted my time, but I couldn't make myself yell at her when she was looking at me with those big blue eyes as she was holding on to her stomach. I must admit, the thought did hit me, that she might have been faking it because she didn't want to sleep with me, but I will not let her get away next time.

She was still sleeping when I woke up this morning. I wanted to wake her up and tell her to go, but she was sleeping so peacefully so I just let her sleep. I would normally never let anyone be there alone, but what harm can a barista do in a hotel room?

My brother had been calling me all day yesterday, but I didn't answer him. I know he will be furious when I arrive at the warehouse. And I was right. As I entered his 'office' he was not looking up. For a few seconds, I was just standing there waiting for him to speak.

"Rafael." I said annoyed when it clearly didn't help just standing there. He still didn't answer. "Rafael." I tried again a little louder this time.

"Where were you?" He asked coldly still without looking at me. When people tell me I am cold or look mean, I always think what they would think of Rafael. I am nothing compared to him. All the other guys are scared of saying the wrong thing to him, and I guess as his brother I have a longer leash than them, but he even freaks me out when he gets mad. And it's not because he raises his voice or hits you, he has this deadly stare, and you know that something bad will happen after.

"I had plans." I simply answered him. If he knew I was at a fun fair with a girl I just met, he would probably slap me.

"With who?" He said still looking down. I hated when he talked in this low and calm way because I knew he was anything but.

"Someone." I will admit, I was also not helping the situation. Just as he could get angry and annoyed, I also had my demons and we could clash when I felt he was trying to control me.

"We had a shipment yesterday." Fuck. I had totally forgotten about that. There had been some problems with the Mexicans lately, but they agreed to send 150 kg of heroin this week. And I was supposed to be there at the delivery. I fucked up big time.

"Shit, I totally forgot. I am sorry." I said and he sighed and looked up now.

"You forgot?" He said in a passive-aggressive manner. Rafael didn't trust anybody to get the shipments and it was only me, my cousins Leonardo and Michael who were allowed to handle them. "I had to send Leo again this time. Alex waited an hour for you to come." He said and slowly got up from his chair making his way to me. He was pissed.

"I said I am sorry. It won't happened again. It was a mistake." If I had not been his brother, he would for sure have gotten rid of me by now. Rafael was tough, he didn't accept mistakes. Ever since he had taken over our father, he had become cold and very strict. I sometimes missed when it was me and him messing around and our dad taking care of the business.

"Mistake..." He repeated after me and stood right in front of me with his deadly stare. "Where were you?" He asked again and I knew if I didn't answer him this time, he would lose it.

"I was on a date." I admitted. I would never tell him that I went to a fucking fun fair.

"With whom?"

"With a girl, I met at a café." I said and he was continuing his stare.

"I thought we were pretty clear on the dating situation." He said and I sighed. He didn't want me or any of the inner circle to date random girls. We could sleep with them, but that was it. No information, no unnecessary interaction and no feelings. He had plans for all of us and they did not include girls like Laura. He had made a list of the daughters of other gang members who would be a suitable match. Mostly other American Italians with rich and powerful fathers or brothers.
