I felt someone shake me slightly and I opened my eyes. I'd rub them yawning. It was dark outside.
"Coke, we're home." Pepper said, carefully lifting me out of the car and into his arms.
I'd smile lightly, but my eyes kept closing. I was still tired.
"You can go back to sleep in your own bed." Sprite said, locking the car once I was out.
Peps carried me to the front door and used a hand to unlock it with his key, then walked inside. Sprite followed us and locked the door once we were all in. The house was cold and dusty. Peps set me on the couch while he and Sprite did a routine and checked to make sure nothing had been broken in to. Luckily, everything was just how they had left it.
"Let's get you to your room." Peps said, picking me back up.
I'd grab his hoodie and snuggled into it, yawning. He giggled slightly and continued walking down the hall until he reached my bedroom. Peps slowly turned the doorknob and opened the door. The air inside the room was colder than the rest of the house. We both shivered and turned on the light. A thin layer of dust had appeared on everything.
"Hold on." Peps said, setting me on my feet and walking to my bed.
Peps proceeded to grab the blankets and shake them out from the dust. The particles were flung into the still air and made both of us sneeze. After he was done he'd call me over. I'd take off my shoes and didn't bother to take off my clothing. I'd just flop into my bed and snuggle under the covers. It creaked slightly as I got in it. There was a loose board under it.
"Guess I'll have to fix that soon." Peps said.
Peps walked around my room to make sure nothing had gotten inside and everything was where it was last. He checked the windows and they were locked. Lastly he checked my closet. Peps looked through the hangars and hung clothing, making sure nothing was hiding inside of it. With a kid he closed the closet doors and walked over to my bed.
"Your rooms all clear." Peps said, rubbing my head slightly and ruffling my already messy hair.
"Ok..." I'd mumble, snuggling deeper into the blankets.
Peps walked to my door and turned off the light, "Goodnight, Coke." He'd say, then closed the door and let me rest.
I closed Cokes door and sighed. Walking to the living room, I saw Sprite was watching the news. Nothing interesting was going on.
"Is Coke doing alright?", They'd ask.
"I think she'll be ok." I'd respond, stretching.
"Man.. Pepsi and Coke were close. I wonder how the fight started." Sprite said, turning around and putting their arms on the back of the couch.
"Everyone has questions, but is it really necessary to have the answers?" I'd ask.
"Well, not sure. We need to know what happened with Coke." Sprite would sigh.
"Agreed. But she needs to rest for right now." I'd say, walking over to sit next to Sprite. "Just like we need rest."
"It got dark while we were still driving.. I wonder what time it is." Sprite said, pulling out their phone.
I looked at the TV and yawned.
"Shit. It's one in the morning. We still have work tomorrow." Sprite said getting up from the couch and heading to the stairs.
"You didn't take off?" I'd ask.
"You did?"
I laughed slightly. "Seems I'll be taking care of Coke while you're gone."
Sprite nodded their hand, "Alright. Goodnight DP." They'd walk up the stairs.
I'd turn off the TV and yawned. I walked down the hall passed the kitchen and turned down another hallway, heading to my room. I'd open the door and walked inside.
My room had a bed in the top left corner and had beige colored walls. There was a work desk to the right of it with a computer. At the far right wall there was a bookcase filled with gadgets and some books. There were tools and scrap metal laying in the floor around it. There was a closet on the back wall.
I'd walk over to the closet and opened it. Inside there were shelves and drawers along with clothing on hangars. I'd open one of the top drawers and pull out a pair of black sweat pants.
I'd close the closet and tossed the sweatpants into my bed. Taking off my hoodie and jeans, along with shoes and socks, I'd put on the sweatpants and stretch.
Yawning, I walked out of my room and farther down the hall. I turned and opened Cokes door. I walked inside, making sure to not let much light in.
I just need to check on her every once in a while.
I sat down on the side of her bed and watched her. Not in a creepy way, though. I'd watch her carefully, making sure nothing was going wrong. And she seemed fine. She'd let out a small whine, though, and started to breathe faster. Is Coke having a nightmare?
"Coke..?" I'd whisper, putting a hand on her shoulder.
She'd shift and grunted slightly, pulling the blankets closer to her. Coke then started tossing and turning in the bed.
"Coke! Wake up!" I'd say, raising my voice slightly as I shook her.
Her eyes shot open and she sat up. Coke looked around frantically and pushed my hands off of her in a panic.
"Coke- it's okay, you're safe now." I'd say gently, holding one of her fingers with mine.
Cokes breathing slowed and she'd look at me. Her eyes were slightly red, and she was panting. Seems she was on the brink of tears.
"Oh, Coke." I'd say, pulling her into a loose hug.
She'd hug me back instantly, wrapping her arms tightly around my chest.
"Can you sleep with me tonight..?" She'd whisper.
"Oh- sure..." I'd say.
She had me sleep next to her. Coke held onto my arm tightly and didn't let go. She needed comfort. All I did was lay there for a while, then closed my eyes. I wonder what Coke went through.
I started to yawn and I felt myself drifting. Seems like have time to think about that later.
