Ricky just got back from the store and he walked in his sister Peanut's room. "Hey, Peanut, you seen ma? Is she here?" He asked his sister.
"She should be." She answered as she reads her book as she sits on the edge of her bed.
"Did she go to the store or something?" Ricky asked. Peanut faced him. "I don't know. I just told you she should be." She smiles and laughs a bit.
Ricky then checks the bathroom, seeing his older brother smoking his reefer. "Where's ma at?" Ricky asked his brother.
"Don't you know how to knock?" His brother asked irritated.
"Just tell me where ma is," Ricky told him raising his hands a bit.
"Close the damn door, man." His brother says before shutting the door in Ricky's face. He then asked everyone in the apartment where his mother was, but no one knows where she at.
Ricky then walks in the kitchen and finally founds her. She was smoking her cigarette as she was folding laundry on the dining room table.
"Hey, ma," Ricky says walking up to her.
"Hey, baby. Got my cigarettes?" She asked as she puts out the cigarette in her hand. Ricky gets the pack out of his pocket and hands it to her.
"Damn it, boy, I asked you to bring me light 100s," His mother says as she looks at the pack with one hand on her hip. "You know I'm tryin' to quit." She places the pack down.
"Sorry." Ricky leans against the dining room chair. "Uh...ma?" Ricky hesitates, his mother begins to fold the laundry. "Can I go to the talent show tonight with my friends?"
"Which friends?" His mother asked as she was folding a green shirt.
"Kylea and Mike," Ricky says. His mother faces him with her brows furrowed as she stops folding. "Michael Bivins and Kylea James?" She asked with her brows raised.
"Yeah," Ricky replies.
"Hell no." His mother told him as she puts the folded clothes aside and begins to fold more. "I don't think so."
"Bad ass kids. Always hangin' around with Dante and 'em." She faces Ricky as she folds clothes. "Drinkin', smokin' reefer. If you had any damn sense you'd stay away from them, especially Michael. Watch, see where he winds up in ten years." She puts her hand on her hip.
Ricky walks out of the kitchen. "Probably locked up!" She calls out. "Big-headed self." She says as she goes back to folding. ~~~~~~~
