Everest's POV
The jail in Czechoslovakia wasn't exactly pleasant. But that isn't what made my time in there undeniably horrible. It was Calum. I knew as we walked in the cell that he would be happy. I made it clear that I wasn't. I told the attractive cop, "Please, no. Anyone but him. Well, preferably the girl, because both of the boys hate me, but please don't lock me up with this bitch." But, of course, the cop ignored me.
"Don't look so sad, baby," Calum told me, and I flinched at him calling me baby.
"Piss off!"
"Can't really do that, we don't have too much room in here." He put his muscled arm around my waist, and I grabbed his wrist. "What the hell makes you think you can touch me you bitch?" My claws had extended; they were digging into his wrist. He smiled slyly, "Better not Change in here, Everest, there are people. They might find out who you are, and you just might kill them."
"I might just kill you," I muttered under my breath. Why did he find it so amusing to make me hate him? I started snarling, and that was when he probably realized it was a bad idea to make me mad. He went to unclench my hand from his wrist, but I grabbed his hand with my other hand.
"Everest, calm down. You're a friendly werewolf. Friendly, remember? You don't want to hurt me."
"That's debatable."
"Wha-" But just then, a pretty girl started clanging her keys against the cell. "Wanna get out of here? Or you could just continue to hurt the douchey guy. It was quite entertaining to watch. Aw, look, you're making him cry." I looked over to see tears streaming down his face. And I watched them drip into a growing puddle of blood from his wrist.
"Who the hell are you?" I saw Caspar peek out from behind her.
"I'm your worst nightmare. Now come on, do you want to stay in a confined area with that perv, or wouldn't you rather be in an unconfined area with that perv?" Couldn't argue with that logic. I got up, released Calum, and my claws shrank back to normal fingers. "I'm Tessa by the way," the girl said, unlocking the door.
"I'm Everest. Nice to meet you."
"I'm Calum," he said.
"Shut up. No one cares," I replied. I heard Tessa laugh.
"We need to find your psychic friend and her boyfriend," Tessa was saying, and I quickly glanced at Caspar, who looked equally alarmed. Then he remembered how mad he was at me and went back to glaring. "Don't worry, I overheard them talking." And that's supposed to reassure us how?
We walked in silence to find Toby and Marina standing close together, and I looked just in time to see Toby glance longingly at Marina. Yep, I definitely ship it. Moby? Maby! I could hardly keep from giggling. Toby glared at me. Oh yeah, he was still pissed at me for biting his sister.
On our way out, we ran into our first police officer. Tessa just smiled and walked past him, and he nodded in our direction. I hadn't even thought to ask her why she had all the keys. As if she could read my mind, she said, "I'm the daughter of the cop who arrested you." I noticed then her perfect American accent. Not even a hint of Czechoslovakian. But the cop had seemed too young to be her father. Way too young.
As far as break outs go, that one was extremely uneventful, but I'm okay with that.
Stepping out of the building, Tessa lost some her confidence. She actually almost fell over. She stood back up and said, "I'm fine."
"He looked too young to be your father. The cop."
"Oh. What the hell. I already know you're a we rewolf and your friend is a psychic, so why should I not tell you who I am?"
"So you are a...?"
"Basically, I have magic to make people think whatever I want them to. I made all the cops think I should have been there, and I made you guys think I was the daughter of a cop. Except, it didn't work for you... That's strange, you must have been thinking about him a lot."
"What do you mean?"
"Well, usually, I can make people forget about what they have seen, so I made you guys forget about the cop's age. But if someone pays close attention, then they will realize that I am lying. You must have been paying close attention to that cop to remember how young he was."
"So why did you help us?" Caspar asked.
"Because, I need to get you home. Also, I'm a werewolf too. I want to train you, Everest."
