The air smelled acrid and of rotting flesh. The water of the sewers sloshed beneath carrying away evidences of human entrails into the abyss. It was dirty, infused with fumes of death suffocating all living that ventured deep into the pipes, but again, it was the only hideout of which, its putrid scent didn’t raise unwarranted attention. It infact blended with its nature, shielding the dark dwellers in them from the all-seeing eyes of much superior beings.

A boot stomped into a grimy puddle, the remnants underneath squelched as the figure walked deeper into the Sewers.

Amidst the concrete walls in the dark, pairs of onyx and rubies cracked open from the crevices, accompanied with low snarls and haunting whispers.

Jihyo walked amidst the dead, chin high and eyes beaming just as obsidian as those who did not hold a mortal frame.

The band of demons regrouped and followed her trail, flocking her but not touching.

A large beast stepped out of the shadows, a creature with the built of a strong man and a face of a Yak with armor strapped to its chest. It merely huffed, eyes blazing but then stepped aside, letting the guest walk ahead and proceeded to drag the luggage the woman had brought with her.

More snarls echoed as Jihyo stepped into a large clearing that was dug out as the juncture for the pooling drains. Fire beacons and furnaces were dug into the walls, to brighten and provide the extreme temperature for the demons.

Faceless, disjointed, inhumane mangly beasts crawled all over the place, only momentarily pausing to stare at the newcomer.

Flashing a glare at all that crept, Jihyo averted her eyes and carried on with her way down the molded stairs, with only the Yak hybrid, presumably a higher rank creature tailing her whilst the other demons and beasts fell into a series of shrill cries and cheers.

The center of the clearing was built into a makeshift platform with a raised stage, of yellow and redstone. Jihyo stopped before the man who sat amidst books and scrolls.

my liege” she spoke, kneeling with her head lowered.

The cheers crippled and silence bloomed from the heart of the sewers, except for the fountains of dirty water that fell from heights and into the tunnels around the platform, a constant roar to the ears.

The tension however rose steadily.

“do you know what hour it is now?” the shrouded figure asked instead, face devoid of any emotion.

Gulping, Jihyo looked up “yes, I apologize for the delay. Something came over and I had to- “ excuses poured, only to be brutally cut off and with the next second, she was flung across to the other side of the platform.
