Bret knew his voice was getting tired. Skye didn't want to stop singing because it was what she was born to do.
"Skye!" Bret called out.
Skye ran into her lover's arms and kissed him, "Yes?"
Bret's voice waning with pain, "You ready to go home? Cuddle with me in my bed?"
Skye's magenta eyes lit up with excitement, "Yes! I wanna be with you forever."
Bret slowly pulled Skye in for a kiss. Their eyes locked together as they closed in for a sweet but rough-lipped kiss. Her eyes sparkled as if they had never kissed before. The blue-eyed boy sparked with a bit of nervousness when he kept pulling her in. Finally, they locked their lips with Skye softly crying.
Bret gently pulled his lips back and held the teary-eyed girl, "Sunshine what's wrong?"
"I never wanted you to leave." Skye looked up still crying, "You didn't abandon me. Ella blames everything I did because of you."
"We'll make sure she won't come near you anymore." Bret growled, wrapping his arms around her hips, "She needs help. She does this for attention."
Skye took her hand and rubbed Bret's chest. Feeling the scars of her boyfriend's past journey. She stroked his chest as if there was something wrong. All she kept thinking about was how brave he was to serve in such a decrepit country. His death would've scarred her forever. Her thoughts kept turning darker with every scar she came across. The worst of all thoughts had her crying more than anything—Bret joining her parents in heaven.
"I got lovesick when you left. I couldn't feel happy." Skye recalled.
Bret loved her soft touch, her hand felt through each marking of war. He wasn't ready to end the feeling. Of course, he cut it short on purpose, "You missed me. I'm sorry for leaving you In such a feeling of despair. I'm never doing that again. As I left myself in a dark spot too."
Skye looked up at her blonde boyfriend, "You got lovesick too huh?"
"Skye, when I first left. All I would think about was you. I'll admit I wasn't going to keep myself alive in Pogoren. As a group left, I was at a point where I could've died on that plane. Luckily, I had some people who saved me." Bret looked back at Rocky, Marshall, and Everest. The group he was thankful to have accompanied him.
Skye stared at Ella and was thankful to have Bret back. Hoping for a miracle, "Can we go home now?"
"I think it is time to go home, come on." Bret held Skye's hand while walking out of the gymnasium, Skye thought about her loneliness once more, but now he was back in her life. One way or another, Skye felt her heart beat faster with love.
The clock read 1:30 in the afternoon. Walter walked up to the mic, "Anyone wanna listen to me?"
People cheered the Defensive End on, "Is anyone in a good mood."
Bret yelled from the doors, "You bet you're ass I am!"
Walter wheezed laughing, "Alright, here's Fire Burning by Sean Kingston!"
Somebody call 9-1-1
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor (Woah)
(Fire burning)
What a guan!
(Fire burning)
Kingston
Let's go, hey (hey, hey)
Red One (hey)
Hey, Hey (hey)
Shawty got that super thing
Hotter than the sun of South of Spain
Got me soon as I walked through the door, oh
My pocket started tickle-ing
The way she dropped it low that thang
Got me wanna spend my money on her, her
She gets it, pops it, locks it, drops it
That birthday cake
Got a candle, need to blow that crazy flame away
Now take my red, black cord and my jewelry
Shawty is cool like the fire, cool like fire
Somebody call 9-1-1
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor (woh-oh)
I gotta cool her down
She won't bring the roof to ground on the dance floor, woah
She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor
She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor
(Fire burning, fire burning)
That body is a masterpiece
The order is one in every hundred years
But ain't no doubt I'm taking it home, home
I'm afraid we'll blow them legs
Little mama game is about to change
She'll be on covers over the world, world
She gets it, pops it, locks it, drops it
That birthday cake
Got a candle, need to blow that crazy flame away
Now take my red, and black cord and my jewelry
Shawty is cool like the fire, cool like fire
Somebody call 9-1-1
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor, woah
I gotta cool her down
She won't bring the roof to ground on the dance floor, woah
She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor
She's fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor
That little shawty's fire burning on the dance floor
She got that fire in her dance that makes them fellas run around, hey
No exit from the dance floor so them boys want more, hey
She got that fire in her dance that makes them fellas run around
My day, get outta my way, everybody, sing now
No exit from the dance floor, so them boys want more
What's that boy, let's go, my day, let's go
She gets it, pops it, locks it, drops it
That birthday cake
Got a candle, need to blow that crazy flame away
Now take my red, and black cord and my jewelry
Shawty is cool like the fire, cool like fire
Somebody call 9-1-1
Shawty fire burning on the dance floor, woah

Somebody call 9-1-1Walter is now laughing after singing Fire Burning, "HAHAHA! WHAT THE HELL DID I JUST SING?"
Bret walked out holding Skye's hand, "I only need you, no other distractions."

The car drive home was something Bret wished he could forget. Nothing about what was said in the car was enough to give Bret no amount of sleep tonight. Jipi kept talking about the noises he might hear from his older brother's room. Foxy talked about the history class he was in and how nasty the teacher was with her assignments. Of course, Grant blamed it on how lazy he truly was.
"Dad, are you gonna let what Jipi said just slide like it never was said?" Bret growled, holding Skye in his arms after she fell asleep during the car ride, "It's only 6:30 at night."
Grant sighed, "Jipi, I swear on your grades. If you don't stop talking like that. I'm letting your brother bodyslam you."
"Skye is gonna sleep in my room," Bret whispered to his dad, "Could I be with her? After all, we are dating."
His dad nodded, "Just don't do anything sexual. That's all I can warn you about."
Bret felt his gut stop him from moving, "Something's off."
"Like what?" Foxy asked.
"These boxes arrived today. I didn't expect anything today." Grant recalled, "Unless it's the shirts I bought from your school."
Bret examined the name on the boxes, "They're from 6314 Mason Boulevard. Oh dear god."
"Isn't that Rocky's address?" Grant gasped, realizing the gray-haired boy's parents left town, never to return.
"What about his older brother Daniel?" Bret asked on the verge of tears.
"He moved to Virginia, he got stationed at Little Creek Navy Base. I think?" Foxy attempted to recall.
"I don't remember that happening, but poor Rocky." Bret cried.
"What about him?" Foxy tensed with worry.
"He's homeless," Grant spoke in shock.
"Unless we take him in and adopt him." Bret had an idea shine in his mind.
Bret walked in the house still carrying Skye in his arms, "Tomorrow. You'll see me as a hero."
