Bret was at Skye's house, decorating for Christmas, which was coming within a couple of months, kissing her cheek from time to time, which Skye adored while they were dating. Bret felt his mind clear from the past couple of months.
"It makes my day being with you." Skye blushed.
"Having you in my life changed how I felt about things." Bret scratched his head.
"I have a deep question for you." Bret grew worried.
"What's your question?" Skye tilted her head.
"What would you do if I died? What would you do without me?" Bret wrapped around her shoulder. She was expressing concern for the girl who was dressed in all pink.
"I wouldn't be the same without you. I wouldn't feel good about myself anymore." The pink-eyed girl cried softly into her boyfriend's chest, clinging to him.
Bolt slammed the door, causing Bret to jump and suddenly fall to the ground. His breath staggered. Grant walked in with him, holding the truck's keys, causing Bret to shake and tears to flow down his cheeks. Bret knew that the time had come.
"It can't be that time. It can't be." Bret struggled to speak. He was holding Skye while struggling to stand straight, his knees bending from the pressure of the emotional pain. The screams of tormented souls left his body with tears escaping his eyes.
"Skye, I have nothing left to give. Come help me with the dog." Bret cried out.
"It's time. I'm sorry to do this to you kiddo." Grant sighed deeply. A frown appeared on Skye's face. Realizing the time had come for Brody's dog. Bret wiped his tears and kissed his girlfriend's forehead.
Bret felt his heart flutter walking to the car when he saw his dog inside the white Chevrolet truck. Laying his head on his bed, which was only a pillow and blanket.
Lying isn't better than silence
Floating, but I feel like I'm dyingBret held his dog in the backseat. He was holding back his tears while Skye cries. Grant has the steering wheel silent as can be. He is not letting go of his surroundings, after all, he is driving to the vet. Skye leans onto her boyfriend's shoulder.
Still, no matter where I go
At the end of every road
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
I know it's easier to run
After everything I've done
You were good to me
You were good to meThey arrive at the vet from Skye's house. Bret holds his dog. The nurse checks him in one last time, "Euthanasia appointment for Brody?"
You were good to me"Yes. It's time for Brody to go home." Grant sighed in agony.
You were good to me
Leaving isn't better than trying
Growing, but I'm just growing tired
Now I'm worried for my soul
And I'm still scared of growing old
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
And I'm so used to letting go
But I don't want to be alone
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah, ohBrody now had a needle in his arm. His head is up and alert. Bret looked in shock as he started to whine. Bret kicked everyone out of the room to have a one-on-one with his dog. Luckily they listened to his request.
God only knows, where our fears go
Hearts I've broken, now my tears flow
You'll see, that I'm sorry
Because you were good to me
You were good to meBret looks at his dog lying on the table. No one except him is in the room, as he sings to his dog one last time before he goes to the farm. He smiles with tears in his eyes.
And now I'm closing every door
Because I'm sick of wanting more
You were good to me
You were good to me, yeah
Swear I'm different than before
I won't hurt you anymore
'Cause you were good to me
