Days 6-10

(Continued after Marshall came home.)

DAY 6

"Bret! What happened to Everest?!" Marshall shook.

"She was hurt last night. She has a nasty headache and is bruised on her head." Bret was shaken.

"I'm taking the blame, Marshall, no need to be angry at anyone but me." Bret felt guilty.

"Marshall?" Bret got scared

"It's not your fault." Marshall hugged Bret, "No need to blame you, buddy."

Bret felt the warm embrace of Marshall, "I feel a lot better now."

"You're welcome." Marshall also has guilt.

"You seem... Off." Bret couldn't hide his guilt either.

"I just dealt with a drunk soldier last night." Marshall couldn't hide.

Bret was stunned, "Holy shit... Really?"

"Yeah... it's difficult living here when the military has control." Marshall shook in a bold tone.

"Marshall..." Everest said in a soft voice.

"Everest!" Marshall yelled in panic.

"Help me, I can't move," Everest spoke in a whisper.

"I'll help." Bret stepped in.

"Where to?" Marshall asked worriedly.

"One of the beds." Bret started, "I'll take care of her."

"You better not kiss her." Marshall got angry.

"Dude, I'm trying to get Rocky okay?" Bret shrugged.

"Guys! A little help?" Rocky yelled from upstairs.

Bret sighed, "What is it?"

"It's a bit of a mess." Rocky whimpered.

"Did he... Oh god." Bret felt fear.

Bret helped Everest to bed, then checked on Rocky.

"Did you do what I think you did?" Bret looked traumatized.

"No, I didn't." Rocky seemed to lie.

"You did! I'm fucking out!" Bret ran downstairs.

"What did he do?" Marshall asked confused.

"He, uh, jerked, uh Jerked off." Bret got quieter than before.

"To what?" Marshall asked.

"I... Don't know." Bret rolled his eyes, mouth tightened.

Marshall sat on the bed Everest was laying on, "Will we make it?"

Bret looked outside, "With winter in a few weeks, maybe."

"Winter? Oh no..." Marshall saw clouds, and winter drew near.

NIGHT 6

Bret was back in the scavenger position.

"What's on the map today? Somewhere good hopefully." Bret sighed in relief.

"Let's check out the Outpost. I forgot about that place." Bret quivered, the night he was injured.

"The bullets are still riddled in these two soldiers. They didn't move them, make em' KIA." Bret started grunting with guilt.

"I need a deeper look in here." Bret started climbing the fence to go inside the outpost.
