Hayley quickly moved quesadillas from out of the pan just to put a couple more tortillas in. She twirled one in her hand as she waited for the current one in the pan to heat up. The dinging of the stove caused her to drop it but Jackson stood up from the floor with the tortilla in his hand. It barely missed the floor. "Good evening," the werewolf smiled."Evening," she chuckled. "Quite the save," Hayley gestured her eyes to his hand. He then looked down, and smiled. He watched as Hayley finished cooking the last quesadilla very quietly. She then called, "Hope! Dinners ready!"
Shortly after, the auburn appeared beside the door frame, "It smells amazing, Mom." She stepped down the singular step that kept her from the kitchen.
"Well then hurry over here and get some," Hayley's smile widened, and her voice was very cheerful. Hope grabbed a plate and immediately took a bite from the quesadilla.
"Not only does it smell amazing, but it tastes delicious," Hope mumbled with a mouth full of peppers, onions, cheese, shrimp, and chicken. Hope sat down at the table, "Are you having some, Dad?"
"Of course, you can't rush your old man," Jackson joked then made himself a plate while Hayley made hers. The both sat at the round table with Hope. It was a nice round, wooden table with stone features in the middle just big enough for the three of them.
"So, Hope. Your first day as a freshman tomorrow. Are you ready?" Jackson asked to create conversation. Hopes grown so fast in his eyes.
"Well," Hope took a sip of some steaming tea. She hadn't realized how hot it still was and coughed for a moment before speaking again. "Sorry," she set it down and smiled. "I think it'll go nice if we can actually stay."
Hayley leaned over and out her arm on Hope's shoulder, "We're trying," she softly rubbed her shoulder. She sat back and continued, "We think that this is finally the place, Hope."
"Except you both say that every year," Hope sighed, and looked them in the eye. "Why do we move so much? I just don't get it."
Hayley and Jackson exchanged eye contact, not know what to say. After a few moments, Jackson finally spoke, "We're supernatural, Hope. It's just safer to move around so that no one asks questions." It wasn't the real reason but it was enough to settle Hope's curiosities.
Hayley changed the subject, "I know the headmaster of this school you'll be going to. He has a history with supernaturals, and I think he can be a great help in your teachings. He even opened this school for supernaturals like you."
"What's his name?" Hope asked after finishing her last bite of food.
"It's Alaric Saltzman. I heard about him many years back and I have old friends in this town that are pretty close to him." Hayley explained, "I think you'll like it here," she smiled.
