She lit a match and carefully brought it to the wick of a candle, which soon lit on fire. She repeated this for 4 other candles. The teenage girl sat on her knees inside of a circle surrounded by the candles and salt. In front of her was a piece of paper labeled Blood Relations in Latin. There was also a map clipped to the paper with a location on it. The witch closed her eyes, and she chanted. But while she chanted, intending for the spell to magically transport the paper and the map, her left hand began burning. She tried to continue the spell, fighting through the searing pain, but eventually it became too much. The spell broke, and she instantly grabbed her left hand with the right. She carefully released her grip, the 'M' on her hand was red, but is was starting to return to it's normal color. The pain had distracted her, until she realized the map and the paper was lit on fire, until there was nothing left. The girl sighed. "Hope!" Her attention was instantly pulled away from the spell.
She waved her hand, and all remnants of the spell was hidden. Hope quickly stood up and rushed out of her bedroom, acting as if she hadn't been working on a spell at all. "Good morning, Mom." She smiled. "Good morning, Jackson," she greeted the werewolf. After knowing the truth, and Hayley and Jackson knowing Hope knew, they'd become accustomed to her calling Jackson by his name. The house was supposedly full of truth from now on. No more lies. And no more pretend. "Did you guys need me for-?"
"Your birthday, silly! It's tomorrow, and you still haven't come to your mother or I about anything you'd want. Or if you want people to come over for a party?" Jackson raised his eyebrows and suggested. He always liked gatherings when he was a kid, and Hope's made some friends since they moved to New York. In such a big place, it would be hard not to. And with all the truth already out, Hayley and Jackson became more lenient. Hope wasn't homeschooled and she was allowed out and about. She actually went to the park often for small lunches with friends.
Hayley and Jackson both looked at her, waiting for her to say she wanted to do something or tell them what she wanted. And they weren't willing to take her not wanting to do anything or have anything for an answer. Truthfully, all she wanted was to see her dad again... Every last spell she has casted since they've been apart was a loophole attempt to contact her dad or the rest of her family. But it all ended the same. The sigil on her hand burning her until she stopped casting her spells. The spell she attempted this morning was supposed to be an indirect way of sending a message to any of the Mikaelsons. She didn't know who would get the message, therefore the sigil would possibly not detect it as her trying to contact them. But it did... The witch shrugged as she answered, "Movie night!" she held a fake smile. "We can sit on the couch, snack, and binge horror movies! All night long!"
"Sure thing, Hope. We'd be glad to quake in fear right by your side," Hayley teased and smiled. "Anything that you want to watch, just let us know, and we'll have it all ready by tomorrow."
The witch nodded, "I'll have the list to you guys." She walked over to the door to exit the apartment, "Thank you! Love you guys! I'll be at the park!" Hayley and Jackson smiled, happy to see Hope happy. Perhaps if they'd just been truthful from the beginning, Hope could have had this her entire life...
