Nick received a call from Cooley talking about how we need to hide. Immediately, I put down all of the blinds and locked all of the doors. This was real, and this was scary. Time ticked by so fast. I took my hair out of my hair tie. My eyes filled with tears. "Are we going to be alright?"
"Yes we will be alright. I think so." He gave me another hug to try to help me feel safer. I do have to admit that it works, I feel safe when I am around him. "It's good. The more people we get here, the better it will be."
"This space is super small. It's going to be a cramped space." I laughed while crying.
"It's alright." He just didn't care about virtually anything like that. I guess that's the only good hiding place here. I just don't wanna die.
Once Dillon and Mika came back we headed down into the creepy basement. We walked over to the staircase. The stairs were framed so there is an open space underneath. Since the basement isn't finished no one would wanna go down there. Underneath that staircase was a small little space the size of a small closet. It was completely closed so the risk of someone finding us was slim to none. It was dark too. There would be no way of finding us unless someone had a flashlight or heard some noises.
Nick had his brother go in first, then Mika followed. He forced me in next. I had to awkwardly sit by Mika. That beats sitting next to Dillon though. I do not like him at all. The space is so small we had to sit with our legs tucked in. We all had to scoot towards the very back. Nick gave his brother the backpack. He brought a couple bottles of water. I opened one and started drinking it. Nick sat right next to me. It was very awkward at first because we had to keep squeezing in until we could get the door latches closed. Nick wanted some water so I shared mine with him. I didn't mind it. This was an emergency.
We put the flashlight on the ledge so we could somewhat see each other. "Y'all alright?" Nick asked.
All three of us responded in a unanimous "yes". I chuckled silently when I saw Nick's face barely showing through the darkness.
Mika and Dillon would not be quiet. They kept joking around and making this into a weird situation. Soon they began to smile and laugh at each other. I thought Nick and I could do the same thing just to annoy them. "Feeling' alright?" Nick asked.
"Yeah I think so besides the fact that those two are annoying." I responded in a hushed tone.
I found my head resting on his shoulder and his head rested against mine. "Hm. You two in the corner need to shut up!" Nick couldn't take their annoying stuff any longer.
Mika immediately tried to stand up and climb over me. It was as if she was trying to hit Nick. The level of annoyance reached its peak. I luckily blocked her from doing anything. There was a noise outside of the door. We were immediately quiet and the flashlight got turned off. The noise almost seemed as if it was very close. It sounded like a rattling sound then followed by the sound of someone crying. It was ear piercing. Shivers zipped up and down my spine as I sat there holding onto Nicholas' hand. Tears poured down my face and I wasn't even crying. It got louder and louder. The noise stopped and than started again. We turned the flashlight off. I felt a hand tap my face. It was Nick. Anything at this point is scary. His hand pulled my face closer towards him. He scooted closer to me, this resulting in everyone more squished. It seemed as if the sound intensified. My heart started pounding and my arm began to tingle. ''12 years, 12 months, 12 days, 12 hours is all you got." A voice in my head whispered to me.
"Did y'all hear that?" I whispered more over into Nick's direction.
Nick replied with a firm yes. So, that means the voice wasn't in my head. It was an actual voice. The voice sounded familiar, but I don't know a man that talks like that. If everyone heard it, who could it be? It was so dark that I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face. I just held Nick's hand while praying that someone would not find us. The noise finally stopped, but footsteps on the kitchen floor proceeded.
