There's nothing like having a nice conversation in the comfort of your own home. Nick and I walked into my house to get some tea and get more of an understanding of the whole situation. We turned on the fireplace and ate some biscuits for dinner before Nick would have to go home. My meals are never anything too intriguing, but simplicity is the best. My sick symptoms still kept getting worse. It seemed as if I was close to dying. I wasn't feeling any better. Halfway through dinner I had to get a blanket off the couch. "You alright?" Nick asked.
I shuttered because I was so cold. It was just so weird how I all of a sudden did not feel good. "Yeah I'll be okay. Nick, I'm so sorry about your mother. We've been through a lot of the same things. I get it. It's alright, okay?" My eyes teared up. "Hey, I'm so sorry. She was unhappy and... Nicholas, thank you for your kindness. I am so happy and I'm grateful to you Nick!" I cried under my breath trying to hide my deep sympathy for him.
His white teeth glistened in the soft orange light. "It's alright. It's just a struggle knowing that she could have had a better few years. She knew she was going to die and so did your parents, how would they know this? I'm so glad that I am able to help you. Norah, you are amazing and beautiful."
My eyes pooled with water. "They knew because... someone told them... they received letters or something like that." I knew exactly what they knew, or did I?
"Someone told them, just who?" He said. "You know, I was just informed yesterday whilst I was at work. Dillon and Mika are getting married. I'm not very happy about it. We are going to have to deal with Berry." Nick said with anger. He was bothered that his younger brother was getting married before he was. It was alright and I was more than fine with it.
"Haha! Wait, what? Oh no! That's his choice I guess. We don't have to be around them." I just kind of laughed. Again, it did not bother me at all. If she makes him happy then that is more than alright. Plus why is Nick worrying so much?
I took another bite of biscuit just as he began talking. "I also found out that Berry might be a killer herself. I struggled with the death of my mother. I've been hiding my struggle with your parents and family. There's things that Berry says and does that makes me second guess myself on the theory. She has no idea. The things that she says while she works at the store are not okay at all. She is not in the right place at all. "
On that note, Nick decided to help me work more on cleaning the basement again. I was determined to rid the house of some of the items. I never liked the idea of my father having a basement wood shop. I mean, that's dumb if you ask me. In the countryside anything works, I guess you can call it redneck. Before waking down I realized that I had not done the dishes for three days. Nick let me lay on the couch while he hurried and washed them. He does not even live here and we are not even married, but he is already helping me out with the most random things. I really do appreciate him and he has no idea. I put two more blankets on and it didn't even make a difference.
I had almost fallen asleep when Nick walked over and tapped my forehead. Since I was scared, I immediately sat up and he quickly sat next to me. "Norah, I don't think you're okay." He said. He placed his hand around my back as I just stared at the floor. I also have to mention how Nick wears his cowboy hat inside. He even wears his black felt Stetson inside of his shop.
"Oh I'm sure. I'll be alright. It's probably just the flu." I said, but his eyes stared at my face as if he knew I was lying.
"You sure you wanna go and clean? Why don't you relax?" He said quietly. "I have to go home anyway. I just came to visit and check up on ya.
"N-no. You cannot go alone. I'm coming. I'm so sorry."
"What? You didn't have to apologize for being sick. That's ridiculous. I think that you just wanna find some more German items. That dress is so cute though. I love it. Take your time." Nicholas is just too kind sometimes.
