Four weeks later....
I finally got the courage to come out of my hiding corner. It has been a while since I was able to come outside. I stayed at Nick's guest house. He helped make sure I had food, other than that he would not bother me. I just went through about four weeks of horrific bad dreams and terrible feelings. I just wanted some self isolation. A lot of people think that Nick and I have fallen off the face of the earth. Christmas is in about less than a week. "Hey Nick." I walked over to the kitchen to grab my tea.
"You alright today?" He picked the lint off his shirt and smiled at me.
"Yeah actually. I feel really good today. It's nice to have some energy and motivation. I think I've come to terms with the fact that we will never know the truth. I'm just worried about the court dates in two weeks." That is another thing: the court dates. Who knows the outcome of those. I mean, this could either be good or bad. Either way I think it will work out to some degree of being alright.
His white teeth smiled at me, "I understand, but Norah, you need to focus on... now. If they destroy our reputation it will be okay. We can either stay here, deal with it, and make amends or... I do not know, but we will figure something out."
"Hmm. I guess we'll see." My eyes looked towards the ground.
"They're having a holiday hoedown tomorrow. We should go to get our minds off it. You also know what that means..."
"Oh Nick. No I'm not two stepping around the Christmas tree." Whatever happens I don't wanna dance in front of everyone. That is the last thing I wanna do. I am really good at western dancing, so everyone wants me to perform it. I never do.
He put his cowboy hat on and took a sip of my tea. "Yeah you have to Norah. You're so good at dancing western. Please." He begged and begged. Maybe this will help me fight through the depression a little.
"Fine. As long as you'll do it with me." I smiled.
I noticed that he sighed. "Sure. Has MaryAnne ever said anymore?"
"Nope. She never stopped by or returned any calls. I wonder if she had her baby. I personally don't really care that much. She'll call. I don't wanna live back in my house. I just can't.
