****Lucy's POV****

The day had finally arrived, after a long and slow week, Friday. Tonight I am sneaking out to go see Eddie perform with his band and my chaotic best friend is going to stay at my house in my place. Sydney already clued in her brother Dustin to everything going on and the plan is already in motion. I fear the day someone really tries Sydney because there is something about her that can be utterly terrifying. The way her mind works and the way she can pretty much adapt to change amazes me. Steve will have his hands full with her. But even as kids he was smitten with her. She fell off a swing in the backyard when we were kids and cried. Steve sat with her and they watched cartoons while she played the role of damsel in distress. Even as a kid she was menacing.

I quietly navigated around my room, adding final touches to my outfit. I didn't know what shoes to wear and I found a pair of sneakers soI just grabbed those, might as well be comfy. I don't know exactly where we are going but I wanna be ready for anything. Syd says, "You always gotta be ready in case the cops show up. Don't be a bitch, run." I don't wanna know how she came to this conclusion. I jumped when I heard my window open. Syd's wide smile greeted me.

"You look so hot! I'd fuck you!"

"That isn't what this is!" I laughed.

She saw the whole outfit and shook her head when she got to the shoes.

"They're all I have!"

"Nope. Here. Take my boots!" She smiled as she flopped onto the bed to untie her boots, "And they're great in case you need to-"

"Not be a bitch and run from the cops?" I asked.

She gave me a finger gun and winked, "Exactly."

Syd handed over her boots and I put them on, modeling them in the mirror and smiling at how much better they pulled everything together.

"Okay, so good?" I asked.

She pursed her lips and put her fingers to her chin, "It's missing something, some spice. Some razzle dazzle..."

I raised an eyebrow, a bit scared that she was about to pin me down and give me some kind of piercing against my will.

I swallowed hard when I saw that all too familiar grin on her face, "My jacket!"

"Your jacket?"

Syd slid the jacket down her arms and handed it to me. I slid it on and smiled at my reflection. I felt like a badass but looked like a badass. I had let my hair fall, wanting to give it a rest from all of the high ponytails and red lipstick. I didn't want to go too heavy on make up and look like a groupie or some girl with Daddy Issues desperate to fuck the lead singer of the band.

"You look hot!"

"Syd... Don't yell. This is the one time my family thinks that you're staying at your house. Mom didn't even set you a plate tonight at dinner."

"She knows I have D&D on Fridays. Wait... What was for dinner..."

"She made pot roast... With-"

"With the oven roasted brussel sprouts with garlic... Barbra... She knows that's my favorite. How did your dad get her..."

"Syd, I swear, what is it with your attraction to my immediate family?"

"You guys are a bunch of sexy bitches." She shrugged, "Now go have fun."

"Wait... What are you gonna do?" I asked her.

She opened up her bag and out poured several movies, a few snacks, clothes, and her walkman. She obviously came prepared. I couldn't help but laugh at how ready she was.
