Chapter 3 The black ruby (part 1)

Shadow Weaver immersed a rock in her boiling cauldron. When she pulled it out, the rock had become a shining black ruby.
"It's beautiful!" Catra said with her eyes sparkling like the gem.
"This black ruby will cast a powerful shadow spell on the Whispering Woods. Without light, the trees will weaken and our tanks will be able to pass over them" Shadow Weaver explained.
"And what's my part in this plan?" Catra asked.
"You'll see. For now, allow me to introduce you somebody" Shadow Weaver used the teleportation spell to bring someone in the room.
"Meet Force Captain Scorpia" .
Scorpia was a tall girl with chocolate skin and red hair. She had claws instead of hands, and a long scorpion tale.
"Cool! You found me a scorpion bodyguard!" Catra said, clapping her hands.
"Excuse me?" Scorpia huffed.
"She's not your bodyguard, idiot! She's going to help you with your mission" Shadow Weaver gave to Scorpia the black ruby.
"I don't get to use the pretty rock?" Catra asked with a sad face.
"No. You'll have something even more important" with a move of her hand, Shadow Weaver made a weird object appear.
"This device was invented by our technician. It's a capture of moments: you click this button and the reflection of what you see will be trapped in a small picture" Shadow Weaver gave the device to Catra and told her what she had to do with it.

After Shadow Weaver gave them what they needed for their mission, Scorpia and Catra went to one of the hangars.
Catra almost passed out when she saw the scorpion shaped tank.
"You have your own tank!?" .
"It's called the Crawler" Scorpia said "With all the things I do for the Horde, the least they can do is give me a personalized tank" .
A flashlight blinded her for a second when Catra used the device that Shadow Weaver gave her.
"This thing is incredible!" Catra was looking at Scorpia's picture.
"Let's get this over with. . ." Scorpia said frustrated.
"Wait, we need a memory of our first mission!" Catra used the device to take a picture of the two of them.
After that, Scorpia went inside the Crawler and Catra jumped on a flying scooter. They left the Fright Zone to go to the Whispering Woods.
"Hey, Scorpia. What can the Crawler do?" Catra asked, using the communicator watch to talk with her.
"It shoots a ray from the tail that causes to fall asleep, just like my venom" Scorpia answered.
"I wish I had a tail like yours" Catra said.
Once they arrived in the woods, Scorpia positioned the black ruby on an extandable pole that reached the same height of the trees.
The power of the black ruby overshadowed the sunlight, and just like Shadow Weaver said, the trees around started to get weak.
"It's working!" Catra exclaimed, looking at the branches of the trees that were sagging fast "Now it's time do my part" She turned around her scooter and flew away.
"This mission is going to be easier than I thought" Catra smugged.
"Stay focused, please" Scorpia told her through the watch.
"Why are you making that face? It looks like you don't want to be here" Catra asked.
"Because I don't want to be here!" Scorpia replied.

Glimmer and Bow could see the effects of the black ruby from the castle of Bright Moon.
"What's happening?" Adora asked when she arrived on the balcony where the others were.
"It's the Horde" Bow said.
"We have to find out what they're doing" Glimmer affirmed.
The three friends went to the stables of the castle. Bow helped Glimmer to get on his horse.
"How am I supposed to follow you?" Adora asked.
"With your steed" Bow smiled.
Adora heard a nitrite and saw a beautiful white horse with a saddle on.
"He's mine?" Adora asked incredulous.
"I'm sure you'd have passed my test if Arrow didn't ran away. So I asked the queen to provide you a horse for our missions" Bow explained.
When he and Glimmer galopped out of the stables, Adora introduced herself.
"I'm Adora. Looks like we'll be working together from now on" .
"I'm so excited for my first mission!" The horse cheered.
"I'm glad to hear that" the girl said.
"Huh? You understand what I say?" .
"It's one of my qualities" Adora got on the saddle.
"That's so cool!" The horse made tipsy steps.
"I like your spirit. Spirit. . .Do you like that as your name?" Adora asked.
Spirit loved his new name.

Adora and her steed followed Glimmer and Bow to the Whispering Woods.
They found the pole with the Black Ruby but they didn't get too close because it was guarded by Scorpia's tank.
"What is our strategy?" Adora asked while they were hiding behind the bushes.
"It looks like the gem up is creating the shadows that are weakening the trees" Bow said.
"They won't resist long without sunlight. I can take care of that for now, but we'll need Perfuma's help" Glimmer told Adora that Perfuma was a princess, and a member of the Great Rebellion with plants powers.
"I'll find Perfuma and bring her here" Adora said.
She jumped back on Spirit and they galopped away.
"Do you know where princess Perfuma lives?" Adora asked.
"In the kingdom of Plumeria. I was trained to remember the locations of all the castles of this side of Etheria" Spirit answered.

They arrived at the entrance of a castle made of threes.
"Stay here" Adora recommended to her steed before she walked into the castle.
"Perfuma? Are you here?" Adora called her, but she didn't recive any answer.
She found the throne room. With surprise she saw that Perfuma was trapped inside an Horde cage. Those cages were made of a special metal that weakened the powers of whoever was inside them.
Adora heard a laugh coming from behind Perfuma's throne.
"Adora! It's been so long" Catra revealed herself.
"Catra!. . . It's been like five days?" Adora said.
"Oh, you're right. . .But so much has changed in five days! You've joined the enemies and I've taken your place as Force Captain" Catra lied saying that Hordak asked her to take Adora's place right after he was told she died.
While Catra was narrating how she became Force Captain, Adora slowly walked closer to Perfuma's cage.
"I'm not surprised that Hordak has replaced me so easily. All he cares about is conquering and destroying" Adora said.
"Gosh, you're so ungrateful. That's something I've never liked about you" Catra shook her head "Another thing is that you always underestimate others" she pulled out a rifle from her hair and fired. The blast hitted the space between Adora and the cage.
Spirit heard the sound of the blast from outside.
"Adora!?" He rushed inside the castle to find her.
Catra was getting closer to the pillar tree behind which Adora was hiding.
"Come on, Adora. You're making this more difficul for you and more fun for me" Catra said, with her rifle pointed at the pillar.
She heard a neigh and that's when Spirit arrived in the throne room.
"What is that!?" Catra exclaimed. She pointed the rifle at the horse and fired. Spirit kicked the weapon to disarm Catra.
In the meantime, Adora went to free Perfuma from her cage.
"Nice to meet you, Perfuma. I'm Adora. I'm friends with princess Glimmer" she said.
"Thank you for helping me, Adora. Allow me to return the favor" Perfuma raised her hand. Long green vines grabbed Catra from the legs and lifted her up.
"Let me go! Ahh!" Catra complained, hanging upside down.
"Perfuma, could you please-" Adora whispered something in her ear and Perfuma giggled.
She used her powers to cover Catra's mouth with another vine, so she couldn't keep complainig.
"Much better! Now let's go save the Whispering Woods" Adora called Spirit.
While they were distracted, Catra took from her hair the device that Shadow Weaver gave her. She used it to take a picture of Adora when she helped Perfuma to get on her steed.
