Chapter 8 In the Crimson Waste (part 2)

A guard was standing in front of one of the entrances of the mines, waiting for his turn to end. A rock fell on his head and caused him to faint.
"That was a good idea" Bow said to Adora after she dropped the rock.
The three rebells used the entrance to access the mines.
"Adora and I will free as many people as we can. Bow, you'll stop the load of Fire Stone from leaving the Crimson Waste" Glimmer said and then they parted.
The girls went in the cooling chamber, the place where the Fire Stone was wetted after being reduced to fragments.
The steam produced was coming out of a hole in the ceiling and there were two guards.
Glimmer teleported behind one of them.
"I'm sorry for this" She said before pushing them and making them fall in the water tup.
"Intruder!" The second guard screamed when he saw Glimmer. Adora punched him and made him go k.o.
"That's two" She proudly smiled.
Glimmer tried to free the slaves from their chains with the sickle of guard that she pushed off.
But a third guard came out of nowhere and grabbed the princess.
"Glimmer!" Adora had to hide to transform.
To try free herself, Glimmer teleported out of the chamber, but the gaurd was teleported with her.
"No. . .Where did you go, Glimmer?" She-ra worried.

In that moment, Bow found the veicle with the load of fire stone, but the Horde soldiers were guarding it.
Bow shot an arrow at a wheel and made the veicle unusable.
Lohni noticed the deflated wheel and found Bow's arrow.
"The rebells! They're here" .
"There's an allarm in the mines. Go allert everyone" the guard said and Lohni and Romeo went to look for it.
"These mines are huge. How do we find the allarm?" Romeo asked.
"Let's split up. Watch out from the rebells" Lohni recommended before they ran in different galleries.
Romeo saw the lever of the allarm from afar, but at the same time Bow walked around the corner.
They both ran to lever.
Romeo was able to grab it first and Bow accidentally grabbed his hand instead. The two boys exchanged a surprised look. Romeo pulled the level anyway and he activated the allarm.
He showed to his enemy the tongue, so Bow pushed him back by the face and ran away to find his friends.

Scorpia was on the balcony of what was her room. She was looking at her kingdom with a depressed face.
Catra went to her.
"Hey!" She didn't know what else to say. Surprisely Scorpia started the conversation.
"I'm sorry that you had to see my kingdom like this. Before the Horde arrived, this place was a paradise of red stone and sand" Scorpia smiled for the first time since they arrived.
"I bet it was special" Catra smiled with her.
"When I was little, I loved to make sand castles and sand angels" Scorpia said.
"What?" Catra laughed.
"I know it sounds silly, but I liked it anyway. One time, my mother got angry with me because I went back in the castle covered in sand" Scorpia laughed too.
"Hah! Shadow Weaver hated when I washed myself with the tounge" Catra told her.
Scorpia thought that was a joke.
"Good one!" .
"Good what?" Catra asked.
Scorpia stopped laughing and looked a little disgusted.
That's when they heard the allarm going on.
"There's a problem in the mines" Scorpia ran to see what was going on and Catra followed her.

She-ra was looking for Glimmer, but instead she found Lohni.
The girl grabbed her rifle.
"Sword to shield!" She-ra protected herself from the laser blasts. She broke the cane of the weapon with her shield.
So Lohni grabbed a shovel that was at her feet and attacked She-ra with it.
The warrior turned her shield into the sword. After a short fight, She-ra managed to make Lohni lose the shovel.
"Wait. Try again" She-ra kicked the shovel and passed it to Lohni.
She didn't understand why her enemy gave back her weapon  but she didn't hesitate to attack her one more time.
After another short fight, She-ra cutted the shovel in half, leaving Lohni harmless.
"Practice. You could become a great swordswoman" She-ra told her before running away.

The guard who had fainted at the entrance of the mines was regaining contiousness when Glimmer appeared with the guard that grabbed her.
The princess stepped on her foot and threw her some sparkles.
The guard fell over the other one and Glimmer teleported herself in other parts of the mines, trying to find Adora and Bow.
"Where are you guys?" She was starting to feel tired.
Glimmer teleported one more time. She didn't have the time to look back that Scorpia used her tail to push Glimmer against the stone wall of the gallery.
Then Scorpia trapped Glimmer's neck with one of her claws.
"That's how it's done, Scorpia!" Catra cheered for her.
"Go. I'll take care of her" Scorpia was keeping her eyes on Glimmer.
"I could cut your head in an instant. . ." Scorpia said when Catra left. She was right, just one move and Glimmer could be beheaded.
Scorpia closed her eyes and exhaled.
". . .But I don't want to" she removed her claw and freed Glimmer's neck.
"Get out of here, princess Glimmer" Scorpia looked in another direction, allowing her enemy to get away.

Glimmer was able to find Bow.
"Where's Adora?" He asked.
"I don't know" Glimmer answered.
A group of slaves ran pass the two rebells, but one of them stopped. It was the same man that Lohni wanted to help before.
"Glimmer?" He whispered, looking at the girl.
She was confused. How did that man know her name?
There was no time to talk because more guards were coming that way.
"Go!" The man said to the princess and his friend.
Bow grabbed her hand and they started to run.
The slave took a pickaxe and started picking the wall of the gallery, causing a small landslide that succefuly devided him and the guards from the two rebells.
Bow and Glimmer arrived at the end of the gallery that overlooked a ravine.
"What now?" Bow questioned.
"Do you trust me?" Glimmer asked to his friend.
"Not that question. . .It never leads to anything good!" Bow feared.
Glimmer hugged him and pushed both of them off. She was able to teleport her and Bow closer to the ground. At least the fall wasn't so bad.

Since the other viacle couldn't be used to transport the load of Fire Stone, the Horde soldiers quickly loaded the Crawler with the crates. Catra found the tank and sat at the driver' spot.
Lohni and Romeo jumped inside it after her.
"Turn this thing on" Lohni said.
Romeo fumbled with the controlls and managed to start the Crawler. Catra steered it away at full speed.
"Yoohoo! I did it!" She esulted.
Lohni and Romeo looked at her with annoyed faces.

Thanks to the help of that mysterious man, Bow and Glimmer escaped from the Scorpion Kingdom. They were so tired that they went to lay down on the warm sand of the mountain where their mission started.
Adora arrived one minute later and she destanded next to her friends.
"We lost. . ." Bow murmured, looking at the sky.
"We didn't free the prisoners and the Horde has the Fire Stone for their robots. I'm sorry" Adora said.
"It's okay. We can't always win" Glimmer sighed "You won't believe what happened when I was alone" she felt the need to tell them what Scorpia did.
