Aisha
We entered into the pitch dark house with him closing the door quietly after him. I walked my way through the dark before stopping at the couch to take off my stilettos. Groaning in the process.
"So we're doing walking through the darkness now?" I joked. "I thought that was my thing." I said with a chuckle turning on the lights in the hallway but he didn't laugh. The house was dead quiet and the ominous silence was making me wary. "If you're displeased about something, you can just say it you know." I said, walking back into the dim lit living room to pick up my shoes. "...You always berate me about the silent treatment not being a solution to conflict..."
"Who was he?" He asked in a taut voice.
"Who was who?" I asked confused by the question.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about. You literally couldn't keep your eyes off him throughout the night. "
My eyes widened and my breath caught in my lungs. He had noticed...
I looked away, ashamed."Answer me damn it!" he bellowed, making me flinch. I licked my patched lips and swallowed hard. Mustering up some courage before looking up at him.
"I..." I couldn't formulate the right answer which wouldn't lead to an argument.
Suddenly, realization hit him,and he took a step back. "it's him isn't it? " he asked. "It's that ex of yours who left you in a wreck when I met you." I was still quiet. "Can you please answer me. I'm going crazy right now with your silence."
I swallowed the lump in my throat before shaking my head yes. "Yes." I replied blinking back the tears that were already breaming my eyes. I had no idea Michael and I was such a sore topic to me up to now. I thought I was already over this?
He laughed sardonically, "wow, CEO of Donovan Corp." He said nodding. "I had no idea you eh..., you mingled with the big guys before. " he said looking down.
"Christian it wasn't like that..." I tried explaining.
"Must have been good huh, living in luxury. I'm sure he gave you everything you wanted, it must have been a change from this small..." He spoke with a weird smile.
"Christian stop. Stop doing that..." I pleaded.
"Have you been intimate with him?" He asked out of the blue. "Ofcourse, what a stupid question. He was probably some sugar daddy of sort then." He said sarcastically.
"Christian this is pointless. Why would want to know that? " I replied shaking my head.
"Just tell me." He snarled.
I breath in before talking. "Christian please calm down. You're downward spiraling. I know you usually do that when you're upset and it's making you paranoid..." I tried calming him
"Well ofcourse I'm upset. Why didn't you tell me about him before time? " he snapped
"Honestly, it just slipped off my mind because it didn't matter to me. And it shouldn't to you." I explained.
"Oh really? The fact that your ex was your boss or is your current boss now and you two are in the same office..." he said in disbelief.
"We're not working in the same office. We don't even work under the same company. So literally nothing can happen. " I explained
"So he has never made any advances at you? Not even once?" He asked.
My jaw tightened at his question. "...we just meet only on board meetings and with a whole group of people who are our major partners so hardly anything can happen." I replied.
