Michael

It's been over months now since the incident when I last saw her. I suppose she wasn't just avoiding me because it was clear she didn't want to see me. Did she perhaps hate me? God I hope I didn't spite back her hate. We had already come a long way past the awkwardness.  It wasn't picture perfect but atleast we could speak to each other and we could stay in the same room for hours. Right now, it feels like I'm back to square one all over again. Or maybe even further away from it.

I don't know what came over me then. I didn't mean to hurt her. It was just my stupid ego, jealousy and overall possessiveness. When that guy flirted with her I just couldn't hold myself. And it even felt worst hearing her brag about that bastard of a fiance. I hated his guts already and I had not even met him. I did have someone look into his files and he was so squeaky clean it was annoying. No record, an honor student, no shady dealings. He was too perfect to be real. No one is that perfect.

"Still mulling over Aisha?" Nate popped out of nowhere as usual, interrupting my train of thought.

"What makes you think that? " I rolled my eyes, picking up a file on my desk.

"Because every time you're in this state, it means something went wrong between you two." He mocked taking a seat in one of the chairs facing my desk.

"Not really." I replied in a monotone.

"You sure nothing happened? Because she's not been attending any of the meetings lately." He persisted but I didn't reply. "Did you guys argue? "

Did it even qualify as an argument? "No" I said.

"Did you guys kiss?" He asked cautiously.

My jaw tightened and I dropped the file, looking up at him. "Are you done with the interrogation? Don't you have a company to run? "

"Oh, it was a kiss then." He stated.

"I swear Nathaniel ... just go away." I grumbled.

"Oh c'mon. We're friends here. What happened? " he went on.

"It was just a silly mistake." I breathed.

"That bad?"  He asked worried.

I sighed buring my face in my hands. "I messed up pretty bad. I didn't mean to hurt her it's just...I couldn't help it. I just couldn't look the other way or hold back. I tried so hard... I know you told me to but I couldn't. "

"Calm down bro. It's alright,... just tell me what happened. " he reassured.

"I literally jumped on her like a ravenous beast. I..." I sighed.

"Please don't tell me you forced yourself on her." He looked horrified.

"Ofcourse not. Not that way atleast..."

"What do you mean? I'm getting confused here." He said with a frown.

I sighed tiredly, rubbing my face. "I know you told me to avoid any sticky situation but I don't know, my mind is always a mess when I'm around her. I just want to hold her and kiss her like before. "

"Man, you know she's got a ..." Nate begun to sermon

"I know. You think I don't know that?" I retorted.

"Oh man." he sighed leaning back into the chair.

"I didn't think it through. In that moment I just wanted her. And that damn worker ticked me off so my jealousy flared and things got out of hand." I explained.

"What worker?" He asked looking at me from the corner of his eyes.

"Some dumb worker at the Construction site. But it doesn't matter..." I replied rolling my eyes.
