She walked into Javier's office with the documents he had asked. He was quiet as she walked about; placing the files on their respective shelves.

"I can feel you watching me you know." She said as she placed the rest on his desk.

"Oh nevermind me, just... You're a sight today. Working with a smile, humming..." he explained.

"What's that suppose to mean?" She asked with an arched brow,

"Just that you seem very gay today." he replied

"Have a problem with people being happy?" She retorted.

"Nope, not at all... But having you like that makes me think: what did Christian Grey have you do last night? Full bdsm package?" He mused, mischief gleaming in his eyes.

"Yeah whatever..." She replied as she sat in the chair facing him.

"Or was it Donovan?" He asked with a smirk and she gave him a flat look. "How was the night after my exit though? Kisses, car sex?" he teased .

"Chaotic at the beginning but we managed a compromise." She replied truthfully.

"Oh was hoping for something along the lines of more action." He said disappointed.

"Yeah that's all the action you gonna get." She replied standing to leave.

"Hey wait, don't leave like that." he called her back.

"I'm pretty sure I can because I'm done here." she replied

"Oh c'mon don't friends catch up and tease each other." He joked.

"There are times i feel you're a woman i swear." She grumbled sitting back into the chair.

"Ever thought you may be the one who's too detached?" He asked and she rolled her eyes.

"Maybe, but he still likes me like that." She replied smugly.

"Christian or Donovan?" he asked with a smirk but she gave him a flat look. "what happened? cat got your tongue?" He teased leaning back into his chair with his pointer and middle finger on either side of his temple, a sly smile played on his lips.

" whosoever sent you after me, do well to tell the person you didn't find me." She replied sarcastically and he snickered. "Instead of prying into my love life why don't you get yourself busy with one?"

"Because watching yours is far more interesting and rewarding." He snickered.

"Really? I doubt you would have so much free time being cynical if Levianna was here." And that's one of the rare occasions she wished she wouldn't blurt out exactly what she thought. Immediately his smile fell his eyes widened slightly as he stared at her: be it horror or disdain she couldn't tell but it definitely wasn't good. Her eyes widened and she placed her hand over my mouth as if that could take back what she said. She really shouldn't have said that. That was a low blow especially from her.

She pried her hand off her face to apologize immediately. "Javier I'm so sorry." She said but he looked away, his face bearing an unreadable expression. "I didn't mean to... I shouldn't have said that. That was totally out of place for me..."

They heard a knock on the door and he told the person to come in.

"Mr. Sartorius,..." his secretary stepped in, carefully closing the door behind her. She was a petite brunette, with freckles scattered over her aqua line nose. She looked between them nervously.  Probably sensing the heavy mood.

"... Ms. .... Ms Aliyu. I'm sorry sir I had no idea you were talking. Sorry for interrupting." She apologized.

Aisha and Javier's close knit relationship was no secret to anyone at the office. Plus, him giving her immunity as an almost superior made everyone always do a double take when it comes to her. They respected her almost as much as they did him. Sure that created alot of annoyed outbursts and nasty rumors about her being his slut, especially from the  female employees and some of the men who had served him far longer than she did. His EA being one of them. Ofcourse, no one had try anything for fear of losing their jobs and it did give her a sense of power over them. But right now, she fear those privileges may soon be rendered invalid.

"It's fine Ms. Holland. She was about to leave anyway." The way he dismissed her made her flinch at his tone. He was pissed alright. She looked between them and fidgeted in discomfort from the tension in the room.

"M...Mr. Donovan is here for your 2:00pm meeting." She replied. Aisha 's head spun so quickly to face her but she looked away.

"Mr. Donovan?"she asked surprised.

"Tell him I'll be meeting with him shortly in the boardroom. " he replied and she nodded, scurrying away. Probably scared of being at the recieving end of their wrath.

"When was a meeting with him scheduled? And I didn't know about this? Am I not part of the board?" She asked as he literally ignored her and gathered the files on his desk.

"As you're well aware Ms. Aliyu, not every board member's presence is needed for every single meeting. Especially if it's a last minute something. And I do recall you being uncomfortable in Mr. Donovan's presence due to your antecedent history together so i decided to spare you of the possible malaise between you two by not involving you in today's meeting because your presence wasn't absolutely indispensable. See, Ms. Aliyu, people still are considerate of your feelings though you don't seem to share that kind of feeling. Not that you would know of." he said before leaving her speechless in his stead. Her shoulders sagged as she fell into one of the chairs near his desk with her face in her palms. She felt completely stupid. She knew her lack of tact and emotional disconnectivity was a problem but not as much as today. Today, she saw first hand how destructive it was and my, did she regret every bit of it. She felt like she was loosing her bestfriend. And now she feared she may loose her job too. After recollecting herself, she stood up, fixing her hair and straightened her dress. She let out a shaky breath leaving his office with her head held high. She couldn't risk someone seeing her lose her composure while exiting his office. She went into her office and stayed locked in without receiving anyone, just burying herself in work till past closing hours. she looked up at the clock on her wall and it was almost 7:00pm. She had barely done anything concrete with the initial problem still weighing on her shoulders. She could hardly concentrate on anything paper work pass five pages; and most of them on her desk were way more than that. She sighed in defeat and stood up from her chair. She grabbed her phone to check on recent notifications from her social media accounts but everything seemed boring there too. Till a message popped up from Christian. Then his call came in next. Immediately, she picked up.

"Still at work? "

"Yeah sorry I completely lost tract of time with work. It seems unending."

"Sorry babe. Should I come get you?"

"No, don't worry I'm rounding up now.  Already about to leave. However what you can do is prepare those magic hands of yours. My back is killing me."

"Ok, and probably run you a bath too. By the way, I've got a surprise for you. "

"Really? What's it?" She asked eagerly.

He chuckled. "If I told u now, it wouldn't be  a surprise anymore would it?"

She groaned."C'mon you know how much I get anxious about surprises."

"I promise it's worth the wait."

"Fine. I'm coming right away."

"Will be waiting. I love you."

"I love you." She replied and dropped the call.

She cleared her desk and grabbed her bag throwing in everything she took out prior in the morning.  Locking up the office, she headed for the elevator.  The cubicles in the offices were all empty with most of the lights out indicating almost everyone had left already. She speed walked to the elevator and heard someone call out before the doors shut close. She immediately put out her hand to hold the door open.

"Thank you." A familiar male voice said.

"It's nothing. I..." she spoke before looking up to meet those beautiful eyes she had grown to love before.

"Aisha? " he said in surprise.

Her eyes were still wide in shock.

Of all the people that had to stay back and leave late, why did it have to be him....?
