Aisha
The ground breaking ceremony went smoothly with all the workers being present. Michael and I were present too but we both did as much as possible to avoid an encounter without a single glance at each other.
The celebratory party was tonight and employees were asked to come with a plus one if the wished. I had decided on bringing Christian along. Be it for support or as a reminder to keep me in line I wasn't quite sure. Either way, he seemed happy going with me and I was more than grateful for that. The fight we had that night still weighed heavy on my mind but he hasn't shown signs of anymore outburst after that. Plus, the party was a welcoming distraction. I had opted for a white evening dress with one long sleeve and a small cape attached at the back. The middle part had a sheer see through material which starts as a v at the valley of my breast, spanning its way up my torso and crossing to the other arm with a mid thigh high slit. The fact of me wearing a white dress for the ceremony brought memories of our trip to UAE. I just hated how much everything I did reminded me of him one way or another. He really got under my skin and it was taking everything in me to get rid of persistent thoughts of him.
"You look absolutely stunning." I heard Christian whisper into my ear before kissing me on the cheek. I smiled appreciatively.
"Thank you baby." I replied looking at our reflection in the mirror of my vanity table.
"What's on your mind? You looked pensive." He asked. Definitely, I couldn't tell him I was busy reminiscing trips with my ex.
"Nothing important." I replied light heartedly.
"I know how anxious you get around crowds and you always want every nitty gritty detail to be perfect from your outfit to how you walk in..." he teased and I laughed. He knows how much of a perfectionist I was and always worried about the slightest detail.
"... don't worry about that. All will fall right in place and I'll be just on your right side. So you can always lean on me. " he reassured.
"You're so corny." I chuckled. "Thank you." I smiled. He held my hands and kneeled before me, looking into my eyes.
"I know, I may not be the best sometimes but I really want us to go all the way. It's going to be a rough ride but, I know together we can see it through." He begun. " I know I messed up last time and I can be a fool at times but believe me, I want an us not just now but forever." He said earnestly and I looked down at our hands.
I don't know, something about our laced hands brought an odd feeling now that he brought that up. I guess he noticed my discomfort and decided to turn his charms on up a notch by changing the topic.
"Hmm, I'm starting to feel a little jealous about not having all of this for just myself tonight." he said standing up and lifting me up in the process. "Give me a spin princess." He said so sweetly it made me laugh but I did as he asked. And he gave me a proud smile as he looked down at me. He was a tall man but nothing compared to Michael. These men could make your 5'7 height feel like a 5'4. "You're so cute I could put in a glass jar and store you away just for my sick pleasure. " he said with a wicked grin. I hit his chest playfully.
"Stop making fun of my height." I said with a pout. I wasn't complaining about our height difference. If anything, I was very pleased. I've always had a thing for handsome men: if he's tall I'm going that way, and if he's the right amount of thick as in muscles, I'm definitely going for it. To top it all, if he's got curly hair.... mmm sweet mother of mercy.
"Promise I'm not. " he chuckled.
"It's unbelievable how you can be so annoying and manage to pull off the face of a Greek god." I said kissing my teeth.
