I open my eyes only to be greeted with the blinding white walls and lights of the hospital room. For a second, I forgot why I was here until I remembered that Bailey broke her ankle, and Peter's little gang decided to beat me up. Edith walks into the hospital room and says
"Glad to see you're awake. So, Prior huh? Daughter of Andrew and Natalie."
"That's true. I'm assuming you guys didn't have the best relationship considering the fact that I never knew you existed until now."
I reply."Assumption correct. I've been wanting to meet you for a while now, but I'm sorry it had it be in these circumstances."
I sigh at this,
"How come my mom has never mentioned you?"
"To put it in a shortly, we were never on speaking terms." Edith replies
"But... Why?" Is my only response
"Maybe someday I'll tell you, but now you have to rest."
With that reply, Edith walks out of my hospital room quietly closing the door behind her.
~~~~~~~Time Lapse~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After two days of being in the hospital, I am finally released. I'm stuck wearing a cast on my arm because it got sprained, but for the most part I'm fine. Gladly, I was in the hospital for the duration of the weekend so I didn't have to miss any school. The only thing I'm dreading is having to do with people, because situations where I have to interact with people never turn out well.
As I'm walking into the building, I can feel dozens of eyes boring into me. All of this staring makes me feel so uncomfortable I just stare at the ground. Nearing my locker, I hear my name being called.
"Tris."
This voice sounds all too familiar to me, but I don't want to deal with this right now. I decide to ignore it.
"Tris. At least try being civil." Four's voice rings through my ears. With these words, I know that I have to form some kind of reply.
"Yes?"
"What happened to your arm?" Uh oh. This is why I didn't want to talk to anyone because then questions would be asked.
"I don't really want to talk about it right now." I mutter.
"If you don't want to talk about it now, at least talk to me about it sometime after--" His sentence is cut off by someone else.
"Hey Tris! How's that arm holdin' up? Any pain?" Peter's voice shows false concern and that's all it takes for Four to realize who did this to me. Before I can speak, Four's voice takes over.
"You did this to her? What the hell is wrong with you? Does your sadistic soul enjoy watching other people suffer?"
"Woah woah woah. Just being a little concerned for my friend." Peter says mockingly.
Unconsciously, my eyes avert to the ground. I have to get out of here, so I quickly get my belongings from my locker and start heading to my first class. Just as I am about to escape the situation, Peter grabs my arm.
"See you later for our project." he says loudly enough for Four to hear too.
Just from a glance at his face, I can see anger starting to overcome him.
