Oh, of course, you let your walls down. Let someone back in, closer than anyone else. It scared you half to death. What if he sees all the dark parts you hide away, and runs? What if he can't stand the person you are deep down? What if? That's all that's been in your head all day as you sit in the classroom. Zoned out, filled to the brim with anxiety that won't shut up. Sickening you to your stomach and causing you to feel dizzy when you stand. The best part, it gets worse when you see him. His beautiful eyes that send your heart racing, or his hidden smile that stops your breath. His deep soft voice distracts you from everything. That right there is the issue, you can't see past him. He makes you blind and distracts you from the truth. The truth that hurts worse than death itself. The one that cut right through you when you hear those words you've heard so much. The ones that left a mark so jagged on your heart. You can't ignore the truth that everyone leaves, and he will too. Despite all your attempts to stay away, he only gets closer. Is he worth it? Worth the possibility of horrors you'd love to pretend don't exist. The pain you've felt for so long its now a comforting friend?"Is he worth it?"
You whisper out softly staring at the chalkboard blankly. Denki looks at you confused and that's when you snap back to reality. Every set of eyes was on you, even Sensie's tired ones. All waiting for you to do something. What the hell am I supposed to be doing? Denki pipes up quickly saving you from impending doom and answers the question. You let out a sigh dropping your head back down on your desk. I don't even care if I get detention for this right now.
The rest of the day went just like that. You had officially checked out of reality, with nothing keeping you here. The final bell rings and everyone gets up shuffling out of the classroom. You simply lay there on your desk waiting for everyone to leave. Thankfully everyone had gotten the hint five minutes into first period to leave you alone. You pick your head up slowly looking directly at Denki. His face is full of joy as he smiles at you.
"You look like you got run over by a train Y/N."
"I feel like it."
"What's wrong?"
"I think I'm in the expert mode in life right now."
He chuckles softly before getting up and offering his hand. You take it, tripping on your feet at his strength. You huff at him slightly as you walk beside him out of the classroom.
The two of you walk around the campuses to one of your favorite courtyards. It was filled with cherry blossom trees and small gardens. You'd come here sometimes when you had too much on your mind. It was a nostalgic place, seeing that you were hiding here when Denki tracked you down and nearly forced you to be his friend. You look up watching the petals as they fall around you in a flurry. It was as if the world decided to snow with flowers instead of ice. The softy yellow rays of sunshine warmed your skin as you took a seat. Denki sits beside you pulling out a manga. It was nice, Denki would always sit by you until you wanted to talk. And if you didn't he would just sit there letting you know you weren't alone.
You turn your head towards Denki, who is completely engrossed in his manga. His eyes seriously scanning the pages. He looks up and notices you, putting his book down.
"Bakugou wanted to talk to you, but I told him you needed some space. I know he can be kinda aggressive at times but he's not the worst. However, I'm sure you figured that out already."
He shoots you a sly smirk, the kind he always gives you when he knows something you don't want him to know.
"Don't tell me your spying on me."
"Hey someone has to crowd control when you two have screaming matches at 2 in the morning."
Your jaw drops as you remember the night Bakugou confessed he liked you.
"How in the world did the whole class not come running out of their rooms?"
"Well Mina was trying to record it, Midoryia was trying to get past me and stop Bakugou, and don't even get me started on Eijiro."
"What does that mean?!"
You squeak out, cheeks turning bright red with embarrassment.
"Doesn't matter, point is I got your back bestie. So why not tell me what's on your mind?"
You let out a sigh, mentally cursing Bakugou.
"Bakugou pisses me off, I want to slap him every chance I get. He's loud, annoying, horrible at communication, and so boneheaded. Despite all the obvious reasons I should walk away from him I can't. I love being around him, and talking to him, just standing next to him is good enough for me. But why? Why is he so freaking bipolar? He'll switch from being a complete ass to giving me a kind smile. I can't wrap my head around any of it, and it's driving me up the wall."
"Hm, sounds like you love him."
Your face managed to catch fire at his comment.
"WHAT! I MOST DEFINITELY DO NOT!"
"Man, that's exactly what people who are in love say."
"SHUT UP!"
"And that's what you say when you know I'm right."
"Back off Denki."
"No, I'm your best friend which means, I'll give you a piece of my mind whether you like it or not. Stop living in denial and accept that you like him. Stop being afraid to let him in, it's not just hurting you. Stop being so selfish and pulling him around. Did you even think about what you're doing to him? This is one of those things you can't go into single-minded, and you most definitely cannot go into half-heartly. You might get hurt, but you aren't the only one taking a risk. So toughen up and go see your man."
Well, he wasn't kidding, was he? Damn, didn't know he had a mean streak like that. But he's right, I haven't been thinking about Bakugou's feelings.
You feel the guilt build up inside of you, the shame starting to drown you. You look down at your feet hanging your head.
"I hate it when you're right."
"I know."
You look up at him softly, your eyes thanking him since you couldn't say it. He nods at you and puts his book back in his bag. He stands up, looking down at you.
"Think up some excuse he'll except and go find him."
