You sat in your room, waiting for your parents to go to bed, before sneaking out of the house. You couldn't stand to spend another day with people that don't even love you. Knowing that this could potentially be dangerous, but deciding that it didn't matter to you. All that mattered was getting out of this house because if nothing killed you out there, your parents surely would in due time.
Quietly walking around the small room on the second floor of this old worn down house you were careful to avoid the places on the floor that creaked, not wanting to have to deal with your parent's abuse because of it. You made sure to pack the things that you knew you would need, clothes, brush, light makeup, and your pocket knife. Your dog Orion sat on your bed patiently waiting for you to finish packing. You weren't very worried about your parents making a fuss about the noise Orion made because they were used to the sound of him walking up and down the stairs at night.
Once you knew that your parents had fallen asleep you made your way into the hallway and down the old stairs, Orion following close behind. Carefully watching where you step, you made it to the ground floor of the house. Opening the front door you motioned for Orion to walk outside, following him after quietly shutting the door.
As soon as you reached the main road, the sky started to turn a deep red color, clouds swirling above your head. You kept a tight hold of Orion's leash, more for your comfort than his. The storm went just as fast as it came, leaving the sky a vibrant red color.
You continued walking for a while, feeling on edge due to the feeling of being watched. You made your way to the edge of the woods when you heard a rustling from behind you causing you to freeze. Orion stood behind you, teeth bared ready to protect you. As you turn around a giant bird grabbed you and Orion before flying up towards the clouds. You didn't know where you were going but you knew that anywhere would be better than Gavaldon.
You couldn't tell how long you had been flying for but you finally saw a castle come into sight? No not one castle, two connected by what looked like a bridge. One of the castles looked pleasant and welcoming, beautifully made with gold exterior architecture, the other across the bridge had a more sinister feel to it. Flying over the beautiful school and towards the darker one the bird flew down near a river, surprisingly stopping right above the water, dropping you and Orion semi-softly into the water before disappearing back into the sky. You made your way to the castle, Orion swimming behind you to shore. Once at the entrance to the school you were met with wolves that were supposedly guards, pushing you into a line of other kids. Orion stayed close to you as you entered the castle not sure who to ask about where you were.
In the center of the room you spotted a tall woman with red hair and a staff looking around the room. You slowly walked up to her hoping she would be able to answer your questions. "Excuse me Ma'am" you said quietly, looking down at the floor. "Yes?" she asked in a slightly annoyed tone, will with her back to you. "I was um, wondering if you could tell me where exactly I am". You asked, still looking at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing. Finally turning around, the redhead looked at you before speaking again. "If you want an answer, I expect you to look at me when you ask me a question". You slowly lifted your gaze to look at the woman in front of you, she was gorgeous. Her eyes were a beautiful emerald green that complimented both her hair and complexion. Getting lost in the moment, the older woman cleared her throat, making your eyes shift back down to the ground. She could tell that you were hesitant in asking again which caused her gaze and voice to soften. "Come find me after I address all of the students and we can go to a more private room to talk, alright?" she asked, looking at you. You nodded your head in agreement, making your way to the side of the room, standing closest to the redhead.
"Attention future evil" she said, banging her staff on the stone floor, making most of the room quiet down, and you flinch. Hoping nobody saw it, you looked down to see Orion sitting, looking up at you. You hadn't noticed but the woman before you had noticed your reaction, making a mental note to address it later, before starting to speak again. "I am Lady Lesso, Dean of the School for Evil. Your schedules and dormitory assignments are posted on the walls around the room, I suggest memorizing them. We will be having an assembly with the other school later today, till then you are free to roam the halls and get acquainted with your surroundings". She said dismissing the rest of the students, you looked up to see her looking at you, motioning for you to follow her. Walking with her towards a hallway you stayed quiet, looking at the ground.
After a few minutes of walking you came upon a mahogany door, Lady Lesso stopping before the door, unlocking it with her keys before motioning you inside. She waited till both you and your dog were inside the room before closing the door behind her. You looked around the room taking in your surroundings. Assuming it was her office, a desk was placed near the back wall of the room accompanied by two chairs in front of the desk. A large bookshelf was placed to the left of it, in addition to a couch and another mahogany door to the right. Paintings were hung around the room and an old clock sat on her desk, quietly ticking away. "You may sit down." she said, making you recoil. You make your way to the couch sitting on one side, her following suit after taking off her jacket, leaving her in a white dress shirt, waistcoat and dress pants. She followed you sitting on the other side. Orion sat at your feet looking up at you and Lady Lesso. "He can go on the couch if you prefer him to be close to you". She said softly assuming he comforted you. You gave him a silent cue, letting him know it was okay.
Lady Lesso watched the interaction between you and the large dog. Seeing him put most of his weight on your chest, led her to believe that he helped you calm down when feeling anxious. "You may ask me any questions you have, I'm here to answer them". She said looking at you gaze softening when you don't look up at her. "Well, I don't know where I am or why I am here". You say starting to fidget with your hands. Orion lays his head on your hands to help with the urge to fidget.
"Well to answer your first question, this is the School for Evil, across the bridge you saw when coming here is the School for Good. We train the villains and they train the heroes. I know it can be overwhelming the first few days but you will get used to how things go on around here. As to why you are here, you were chosen by the school master for entry into this hallowed institution. Every twelve years a lucky few are chosen to be brought here to study. This time it was you". She says looking at you. You nod your head, taking in the information she had given you.
You bring your hands to rub your face trying to make sense of everything that is going on. While doing this your sleeve rolled up a bit showing some of the newer cuts you hand on your arm. Lesso saw them but did not acknowledge it, knowing that it could possibly overwhelm you. Realizing that your sleeve had rolled up you quickly pulled it back down, hoping that the older woman hadn't noticed. You pet Orion hoping that it would help the panic that was rising within you. Lady Lesso could sense that something had changed in your demeanor but before she could say anything you thanked her and left the room quickly Orion following you as you ran down the hallway.
Lady Lesso sat on the couch for a minute longer, wondering to herself why she cared so much about you. You had just gotten here and she already had grown quite attached to you, knowing that you hadn't had the best home life and had a hard time coping with your feelings. A feeling of worry washed over the Dean, making her grab her coat before leaving her office to search for you.
