Movie night consisted of a total of five movies: Book of Life, Spree, American Psycho, Good Will Hunting, and Girl, Interrupted. Although both Killua and Zushi sat out the last one for personal reasons, movie night was a blast for all of them. And maybe the movies were able to take Killua's mind off of the conversation that was to be had with Gon the morning following.
Mito woke everyone up around noon for a late breakfast, although Zushi was already awake and ready to resume chatting it up with Killua.
On the floor of the living room, everyone gathered to eat breakfast and watch television. They conversed about regular things when Mito was in the room, but when she left, the big topic came about.
"I heard Dominic's hosting a summer party in the school's gymnasium." Retz grinned cheekily, rousing the attention of Knuckle, Zushi, and Ikalgo.
"Ah—Retz, no." Gon gave her a serious look.
"You know Dominic?" Killua sat upright, putting down his forkful of pancakes.
"Yeah, Gon usually gives me weekly updates on his life and Dominic seems to be a recurring topic."
"I didn't know Dominic was a weekly occurrence for you?" Killua looked over to Gon. He seemed to be the only one in the room lost.
"Well—"
"Gon and Dominic are friends now. In my opinion, he doesn't seem like an all that bad guy. He's just a little irritating."
Killua wanted to wring Ikalgo's neck for saying that, but he knew it wasn't his fault that Killua always got the brunt end of Dominic's tyranny. He pursed his lips and hummed.
"Killua, look, I didn't plan on going to the party, I swear. I wanted to hang out with you anyway."
"No, no, you can go. It's not like I can't go, I just don't wanna." Killua shook his head and returned to his plate of pancakes. "Dominic invited me a month or two ago at the end of his long apology text separated into three separate paragraphs."
"Are we not forgiving him..?" Knuckle asked. "'Cause, uh, it seems like only one of you two actually wants to."
"Okay, y'know what, I'll go to the damn party. I'm assuming Gon got you guys on the guest list too. I'm bringing a plus-one though." Killua stuffed his face with the last of his pancakes and stood up. "It's the only way I can make that shit bearable."
"Real." Zushi shouted to Killua, who was now in the kitchen washing his plate.
"Who—Who's your plus-one?" Gon cleared his throat. "I'm already invited, so—"
"Ah, actually, she's on the way. I didn't think I'd be at your house still at this time, so I should probably pack up and go back to mine. She'll be there in, like, fifteen minutes."
"Or!" Gon shouted a little louder than initially intended. "Or you could bring her here. I—I'm sure she's cool. I'm sorry, is it Penny? I'm—I'm just curious. Do I know her?"
"No, it's not Penny. And I dunno; depends on if you pay attention to who's in your classes." Killua shrugged. "But okay, sure, I'll tell her to just go across the street. I'll be upstairs, changing, if you need me."
The rest of the group watched as Killua jogged up the stairs, taking them two at a time, all the while his thumbs danced around his phone keyboard.
"Jealousy." Ikalgo whispered.
"That's what I was just about to say!" Knuckle yelled.
"I was just about to pull out the 'I smell jealousy,' oh my god!" Zushi doubled over laughing. Retz joined in discretely.
