If Dominic could begin to say sorry, he'd probably start with Killua. He hasn't done enough to make it know he was and is sorry. He hasn't even done enough to show resolve in his changing. He has no right to pretend he was actively trying. He wasn't. But he could always try.

"Killua," Dominic managed, spotting Killua in the back corner booth at Morow's. "I didn't know you went here."

Killua looked up and fought hard not to grit his teeth and anger and demand he leave. Maybe he'd even throw in dumping his milkshake over too his head.

"Oh. Yeah." Killua looked back down to his phone. He could feel Dominic still standing next to him, just staring. "Bye, Dominic."

"I actually wanted to talk."

"I don't want to talk though, so...sorry. Um, let's put a pin in this, and maybe not do this right now." Killua scoffed.

"I—I'm not gonna let this opportunity pass me up. I'm gonna have a conversation with you right now." Dominic stood his ground. "Whether you like it or not, I have some things to say."

"Nowadays, it seems like nobody gives a shit what I want." Killua mumbled, stirring the straw around. "What is it?"

"I'm going to start by apologizing: I'm so sorry for how I've treated you, Killua."

Killua sighed heavily, pondered, and then sipped his chocolate milkshake. "Okay."

"I want to work extra hard for us to become friends."

"Okay."

"And I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me after everything I've done to wrong you and hurt you."

"Okay."

"Are you just gonna keep saying okay?"

"I don't know." Killua hummed. "Look, I don't think I can answer this right now. I'm not in the mood to be a suck-up and pretend."

"I don't want you to pretend; be honest, Killua."

"Okay, well, I think you have some nerve apologizing when I know for a fact you don't remember the half of the things you put me through." Killua started. "And even if you were able to recall every last thing, I want nothing to do with you. I think you've caused me enough trouble and if you talk to me again after this, I just might swing at you."

"...That's fair." Dominic bowed his head. "But I'm certain I do remember everything."

"Make a list." Killua finally looked up with daring eyes. "Go on."

"I destroyed your homework countless times throughout elementary. I put gum in your hair during middle school PE. I—I broke your limited edition funko pop. I copied at least three or more science fair projects and convinced the teachers you copied me. I cut a chunk of your hair out on the monkey bars in fourth grade." Dominic's voice was hushed.

Killua sucked in a breath. "Do you remember sixth grade PE?"

Dominic's face paled. He didn't know if Killua had remembered, but he did. What was he even expecting? His hands were shaky and he lost his breath. He wished he hadn't sat down to talk in the first place.

"Do you, Dominic? Hello, I'm asking a question." Killua raised his voice. He was getting increasingly irritated. All of his carefully tied ribbons that bound his emotions were slowly coming undone; the dam would soon break, and out the floodgates would come a wave of intense emotions directed at one particular target. He only wondered if that person would be Dominic or Gon; he had plans to see him after Morow's.

"Yeah," he croaked. "I do."

"Does it bother you?" Killua asked in sincerity. "Be honest."

"It does, it bothers me throughout every waking day. It's the reason I can never stay in relationships long. I can't let myself be around people."
