Ging checking in and out of Gon's life was a more recent thing and it sure was taking a toll on him. Back in Queens, he had a girlfriend, and because of that Ging made it a point to stick around and always support their relationship. Gon loved the attention he got from his father when he was dating her, that he never thought about breaking up with her. But they're high schoolers moving across the country from each other; the relationship wasn't going to last.

And now that Gon's single again, Ging is showing up every now and then, and always on Sunday's. They just never know how long he's staying.

"Mito?" Gon asked, setting down the spoon in his cereal. "When's Dad coming back?"

"Don't ask that, none of us know." She scoffed. "But if it makes you feel better, he'll be back this Sunday for church."

"It doesn't, but okay." He shrugged, digging back into his bowl of Cap'n Crunch.

There was silence for a moment, neither of them wanting to speak.

"You start school on Wednesday." Mito broke the silence.

"Dope."

More silence.

"Hey, do you think Killua would be down to hang out today?"

"He's in school right now."

"Oh. Right." Gon clicked his tongue. "I really don't like it here, Mito, can we go back to Queens? Or Valencia even!"

"No, we're staying. It's better for us here."

"How? You're working the same job as always and Dad's not any more present. I had friends, you know."

"And you can make more. Killua's nice, right?"

"I mean...I guess, but he's not— Well, I guess that wouldn't make much sense to you, since you're such a loner." He groaned.

"Very funny. You know what's funnier? You being grounded. Do you really wanna test me right now?" Mito said, half serious half joking.

"No, obviously not." He sighed. "But can they at least visit us? My friends?"

"Sure. Summer vacation, I'll personally have them fly out here. Does that give you some closure?"

"It does, actually, thanks." He grinned.

They finished up breakfast and Gon changed out of his pajamas to go wander around the area for a while on his bike.

"Be back by lunch. You got about three and a half hours, so don't die or anything." Mito called from the doorway.

Gon agreed and pedaled onwards and out of their compact neighborhood, out into the streets of their city.

As he approached the less populated outskirts of the city, he noticed a familiar head of hair bobbing up and down in the crowd of people.

"Isn't he s'posed to be at school..?" He trailed, dismounting his bike.

He rolled the thing with him as he walked briskly through the crowds to find his neighbor and new friend. He ducked and weaved through the group of pedestrians as he mumbled "Pardon me, 'scuse me."

"Killua." Gon ran up to Killua, placing his hand on his shoulder.

"ACK—" Killua shrieked, not in fear, shoving his hands off him. Gon retracted his hands in confusion. "Hi. Sorry. Don't touch my shoulders."

"Oh-kay, then..?" Gon laughed it off, confused. "Why aren't you in school? Oh, are you ditching? Dope! I won't tell."

"I'm not ditching, my classes end at twelve-thirty on certain days."
