Chapter 31 Birthday Boy
Two years later
"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday to you," Gia kissed Theo's round chubby cheeks as she held him on her lap with her arms wrapped around his small tiny body. "Oh my baby! I can't believe you're so big now!"
Theo laughed as Gia's thick dark hair fell around him like curtains. He kicked with his feet and raised his hands to touch her face.
"I love you," Gia tapped his nose. "I love this little nose, I love these little lips, I love these tiny feet."
Theo's laugh filled the whole house as Daisy walked into the living room with her hair to one side. She struggled to put on her earrings with Luca following behind her. All of his attention was on his phone and then on his watch.
"Are you ready?" He asked, fixing his tie and looking up at Daisy.
"Does it look like I'm ready?" Daisy snapped.
Gia turned her head towards them. She arched her brow as Luca's eyes narrowed and his mouth set in a firm line.
"Looks like you're wasting time with earrings that you apparently don't even like," he said as he walked around Daisy and headed to where Gia sat on the couch with Theo on her lap.
"There's the birthday boy," Luca leaned down and kissed the top of Theo's head before moving on to Gia and kissing her head. "Why don't you have class again?"
"Because my professor missed her flight from Spain," Gia said.
"Or are you staying home because you want to spend Theo's birthday with him?" Daisy asked, finally fishing up with her earrings.
"You're his parent, not mine," Gia said. "I am a grown woman, sweet-pea. I can cut class if I want to."
"Be serious, G," Luca said with his ever present disapproval frown on his lips. "Law school is not a joke. You have one more year left."
"Please. I'm excelling," Gia huffed. "Perfect GPA, internships lined up and not to mention I really think Simpson and Sullivan will make me partner as soon as I graduate."
"Only because your brother is their top client," Daisy snorted. "You'll end up dealing with his legal issues all day. Which reminds me, Mr. Silvano, the lease for the new buildings will be up soon. You should get on that if you're serious about buying."
"Please no business talk at home," Gia picked up Theo and held him on her hips. "Keep that all at work. You two get all weirdly passive aggressive when you talk about work."
Luca momentarily flickered his irritated gaze towards Gia before he turned towards Daisy, "Ms. Clements-"
"Mrs. Silvano," Daisy corrected him. "But whatever floats your boat I guess."
"Mrs. Silvano..." Luca's eyes pinned her to her spot but Daisy didn't seem the least bit bothered. "The papers were already discussed. We have meetings set up next week. You would know all this if you bothered to check my emails."
"Why do I have to check my emails?" Daisy stomped her feet and threw her arms up in frustration. "We live with each other, for god's sake, Luca. Just tell me what needs to be done. Stop sending me fuckin' three billion emails a day. I'm sick and tired of hearing my phone go off every three seconds with your stupid name all over it."
"Guys, guys!" Gia bounced Theo while holding one hand over his ear. "Shut up! You'll scare him."
Daisy and Luca glared at each other for a second longer before Daisy turned away and headed over to her son. She took in a deep breath to calm herself before holding out her hands.
