Jungkook's P.O.V.:
As I pulled into the driveway of my and Taehyung's house, I noticed Y/n's car parked there, and I couldn't help but shake my head. I loved having my big sister over, but I wished it were under different circumstances. Every time she came over, it seemed tears were never far from her eyes. And each time we managed to put a smile on her face, her return to that shit husband of hers ended up undoing everything.
I parked my car and locked it before entering the house, punching in the passcode. My keys landed on the table with a clink as I continued toward the living room.
"Hey, guys, I'm home," I announced, stepping into the living room. My footsteps abruptly halted as I beheld the sight on the couch – my sister and Taehyung, huddled together, peacefully sleeping with the TV playing softly in the background. A small smile tugged at my lips as I observed her serene form, safely ensconced in Taehyung's protective embrace.
If I could turn back time, I would have pleaded with our parents to have Y/n marry Taehyung instead of Jimin. Taehyung came from a good family and had achieved great success, and I was convinced they would have found a way to compromise. If Y/n had married Taehyung, so many things would be different now, most notably, they would both be genuinely happy.
Taehyung always looked after Y/n, and it was no secret that he loved her. I believed Y/n loved him too. At first, I thought she only saw him as a friend, but the way she looks at him now is different. While our bond remained strong, her confidante had shifted over time from me to Taehyung.
I carefully draped a blanket over both of them, then headed to my room, closing the door behind me. It was time to give Y/n's husband a not-so-friendly reminder that he should treat her better or leave her alone.
After a few rings, he answered, his voice colder than an Arctic chill. "What do you want, Jungkook?"
"I just wanted to know what the hell you did to my sister this time," I said, irritation creeping into my tone.
"I didn't do anything. Maybe you should tell her to toughen up," he retorted. A fire ignited within me, and an idea took shape.
"I would, but she's a bit preoccupied right now," I said, pausing for dramatic effect. "With Taehyung," I added with a satisfied smirk, knowing it would get under his skin.
Jimin growled, "What the hell is she doing with that idiot?"
"First, keep Taehyung's name out of your mouth, and second, I don't know why you care. It's not like you give two shits about her," I retorted.
Jimin huffed. "I'm done with this. Goodbye, Jungkook," he said before hanging up.
Satisfied with my parting shot, I readied myself to go to sleep. After completing my nightly routine, I turned off the lights and settled into bed.
Y/n's P.O.V.:
(The next morning)
I nuzzled closer to the warmth beside me, not wanting to surrender to the inevitable awakening. Eventually, I decided to open my eyes and was met with the sight of Taehyung sleeping peacefully beside me. A smile crept onto my lips as I gazed at his tranquil form and listened to his gentle snores. I tried to move, but I felt a firm grip around my waist—Taehyung's protective arms held me close. Unable to break free, I turned to my phone.
Struggling to reach it on the side table, I finally managed to grab it. As the screen lit up, I was bombarded with missed calls and messages from Jimin. My eyes widened, panic settling in. "Hey, Tae, you have to let me go," I said, shaking him gently to wake him, but he remained unresponsive. "TAE!" I raised my voice, shaking him harder. He jolted awake, surprise evident on his face. "What? What happened?" he asked.
I chuckled at his reaction. "Calm down, Tae. I just need to get up, and you wouldn't let go," I explained.
He scratched his head and laughed. "I'm sorry; I guess I was too deep in sleep to notice."
I shook my head and gave him a small smile. "I'll be back in just a second; I need to make a call." I walked out of the room and headed to the kitchen.
As the phone rang, my anxiety grew. Jimin's voice exploded through the receiver, anger seeping through the connection. "So you finally decided to call me after ignoring my calls last night and this morning!"
I stammered, "I... I'm sorry, Jimin. I wasn't trying to ignore your calls; I was asleep, and I didn't see them until now."
He scoffed, cutting me off, "Don't act like you're so innocent. I know you were sleeping all snuggled up next to that idiot Taehyung!"
His words sliced through me, anger bubbling within. "Don't say that about Tae! You're the one who told me to leave yesterday, so why are you getting mad at me now?" I replied, my voice filled with frustration.
"So now you're standing up for him? Why do you always... Why can't you just..," he said not able to finish his thoughts. A tear slid down my cheek. "What did I do so wrong? What could I have possibly done to deserve such punishment from you?" I burst into tears.
Bracing myself for Jimin's screaming voice, I instead felt the phone being snatched from my hand. When I opened my eyes, I saw Taehyung, a look of pure rage etched across his face. "How dare you make her cry! You're supposed to be her best friend, her husband, but all you ever do is hurt her! Well, I've had enough! We're coming to get her things, and then I'm taking her back home with me! I better not ever catch you calling her again! Now, say goodbye, jackass!" Taehyung hung up the phone.
He placed it on the kitchen counter and came over to me, his hands on my shoulders. "Are you okay?" he asked, his eyes filled with concern.
I nodded, although we both knew that wasn't true. "I know you're lying; you can't lie to me," he said, lifting me onto the counter. "Well, you know I have to go back," I said, looking down at my lap.
"You're not going back, Y/n. I heard everything, just like Taehyung. I know you're still married in name, but it's time to end this. I don't think you can handle it anymore. If you're worried about what our parents will think, I know they'll agree after hearing everything you've been through," Jungkook assured embracing me.
He softly stroked my hair, and Taehyung watched us both. After what felt like an eternity, Jungkook let go of the hug. "Let's go get your stuff; it shouldn't take long since half of your things are already here," he suggested a reassuring smile on his face.
I nodded. "You don't have to go if you don't want to," Taehyung said, stepping up behind me. I gave him a tiny smile. "I'll be fine because this time, I have you guys," I said.
"Yeah, and if he dares to pull that bullshit in front of me, I'll beat his ass," Jungkook added, and Taehyung wholeheartedly agreed. I let out a small giggle and shook my head. "Let's just go."
And just like that, I was on my way back to mine and Jimin's house, but this time, I wasn't alone. I had Jungkook and Taehyung by my side.
