RECAP:

"I think what he meant to say was, that's the best idea. And that is you staying with Kian."

Esmé's eyes widened in shock at the suggestion. Best idea? More like the worst nightmare. She shook her head discretely to Petra to tell her what a terrible idea it was, but Petra wasn't focusing on her.

"Hey wait a minute! Kian is a single guy staying alone too. How is Esmé staying with him the best idea, but her staying with me is the worst?" Ronnie said acting offended.

"It's not the best idea, and it's not happening. Petra, don't push it," Kian said and narrowed his eyes at Petra.

"How about we go talk about this like civilized people in your office, Doctor Lincoln?" Petra drawled out with a sinister grin plastered on her face.

"There's nothing..." he said, but he didn't continue as Petra pulled him out of the room straight away. But she sent a wink to Esmé before she left.

Kian swirled to face Petra the instant the door to his office closed behind her. His eyes narrowed, the sharpness in them hoping to cut off any ridiculous idea she was about to spew on him.

But yet the light that seemed to glow within her eyes the instant the idea popped into her head stayed right where it was.

"Petra," he glowered.

"Just listen to me, okay?"

"There is nothing to listen to. Absolutely nothing can make me understand why that suggestion is a good idea, Petra," he groaned and plopped onto his seat behind his desk, rattling the items on the table at the sudden action.

There was no way in hell he was going to take the patient to his house. As if he needed any more reminder of why he should stand his ground than the picture frame lying face down on the desk.

He ran a hand through his hair at the situation they were about to find themselves in. Pissed was an understatement of the way he was feeling right there and yet all she did was sit right across from him, looking like she had just said he should recite a simple ABC and he was flipping off about it.

"Think about it, it's very wrong..."

"If you're her doctor," she interrupted.

Kian gaped. "I am her doctor!"

"Right now, yes. But she's leaving. You don't have to be anymore."

He scoffed, unable to believe what he was hearing. Ronnie should really be in here hearing the stuff coming out of his sister's mouth. Was she at all sane?

"That's a rather insane point, Petra. Just because she's getting discharged from the hospital doesn't automatically make her stop being a patient. She's still got the cast on, which she's going to have to come back here to remove once her legs healed. There are going to be a couple of medical checkups she's going to have to attend during this time until she can get her memory back, or at least till we're sure it's gone for good. And you know who the doctor she will be seeing when she makes those trips back to the hospital, dearest Nurse Wilson, this doctor. So no, I cannot just stop being her doctor at the snap of your fingers!"
