I was crying. Not crying over anypony in general, but I was crying over the ending of "The Blood of Olympus." It felt weird crying over a book, but it was such a perfect ending.
If only my ending was like this, I thought to myself as I closed the book and sipped at my Frappé under the sunshine of the sun. Ever since I've came back to Canterlot to continue my studies of becoming a Journalist, my life seemed... empty in a sense. A good portion of my friends in Canterlot were either hanging out with their Coltfriends, or hanging out together WITH their coltfriends. Here I was, at a Café drinking my Frappé while pondering about my life all of a sudden.
My life seemed perfect before Destiny Hope came along and caused trouble for everypony in Equestia, and now... I actually sort of missed that Alicorn, even though she was a jerk to me at times or just flat out sarcastic.
Well she is Tirek's child, I laughed at myself as I yet took another sip of my Frappé. Ever since Destiny came into my life and left, I've had an emptiness in my heart that none of my friends could fill in my heart. It was as if Destiny opened my eyes for the first time to what the world really had in store. The world was a cruel place where crime comes and goes and villains lurk in the depths where no pony notices them until it's too late. Well, at least that's what I thought, but now...
I slurped at my Frappé nervously and looked around, feeling like somepony was watching me from a distance, but I just couldn't figure out who it was.
I couldn't feel the sun's heat on me anymore, but instead felt drips of water coming from the sky. Great, just great!
"Could it get any worse?!" I asked myself. Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it started pouring on me. Everypony ran, going into random shops, pony's homes, cafés, library's, or anything that looked like shelter. I sat there in the rain, sipping at my Frappé stiffly. I didn't care anymore! I got up and looked at the sky, leaving my Frappé.
"COME ON, LIFE," I continued my rant at the sky while the rain poured hard, "THAT WAS A RHETORICAL QUESTION! DONT GIVE ME ANYMORE LEMONS IN MY LIFE!!! WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU?!?!?!" I slumped in the middle of the street, not caring if I got wet or not. I sniffed, knowing that I was alone forever and ever and ever and ever... Studying. Studying to pursue my dream of becoming a Journalist, but there was something missing in my life that I just couldn't find. It was bugging me like crazy. Just than it stopped raining.
Wow, that was fast, I thought to myself. I looked up, expecting to see the sun, but instead saw that an Umbrella was above me.
"You shouldn't slump in the middle of the street, especially in this weather." Stuff and fluff...
"And who do you think you are, mister?!" I asked as I got up and dusted myself frustratedly looking at this colt, who was levitating the Umbrella, very ticked off.
"The name's Paper Burner." Paper Burner was tall, really tall, his mane color was of a fire, and his cutie was a campfire.
"Paper Burner? Pfft, what kind of a name is that... Paper Burner!" I mocked him.
"For your information, my name represents what I do. I read so fast that I light the paper in books on fire, so Paper Burner," he than saw my confused face.
"Figuratively speaking," he quickly added.
"That sort off makes sense," I continued, "I'm Amethyst."
"Amethyst... I like that name," he articulated.
"Thanks," I replied slightly turning red in the cheeks, "so why did you let me under your Umbrella?"
"Because you looked alone," he continued, "and besides the fact I was about to go over and talk to you, but simultaneously it started to rain and here we are, talking."
"So you're the pony that was spying on me?!"
"More lie watching out for you," he continued, "I've actually been watching you all afternoon."
"That's just creepy," I replied as I looked at him at a whole new different perspective, not sure about this guy anymore. He scratched behind his head, clearly trying to figure what to say next.
"Sorry I creeped you out in any way..."
"How come you followed me in the first place, Paper Burner?" I asked curiously while we're still under the Umbrella in the middle of the vacant street.
"You seemed... depressed," he continued not making eye contact, "so I, uh, followed you, and I was right." Paper Burner seemed
creepy at first, but once I realized his reasons for being creepy, I had a whole new respect for him. It was as if life gave me alittle bit of sugar with a heck of a lot of Lemons to make something delicious... LIKE LEMONADE!!!!"Well, since you seem okay, I best be going back to the library." Paper Burner was about to leave when I placed my hoof on his hoof.
"Wait, can I come with you to the library under your Umbrella?" I asked because I really didn't want to stay out in the rain or hang out here any longer. The colt sighed and smiled kindly.
"I guess so since I've got nothing better to do." I eeked and we both trotted to the library, while we chatted away about our goals in life and about books...
