Alek's POV:

Chloe rushes out of Val's office and I follow her. I don't know if she'll forgive me, but I'll try to earn her forgiveness. It seems like just yesterday I was mad at her for saying she thought she was in love with Brian. Zane is why I forgave her so quickly. He called her my partner and told me she died. I see Chloe grab her phone and I start to stop her. Kai gets to her before me and he stops her. I'm really starting to like the guy. "Wait! You can't contact your mom with your phone, can you?" I stay out of their way and watch Kai's reaction. "I mean The Order has to keep tabs on that, right?" I watch Chloe stand there for a minute and then she asks Kai for his phone. She uses it to call Paul and hands it back to him. Five minutes later, Paul's knocking on the door. I watch them talk for a few minutes and I can tell Chloe zoned out after a minute. "Chloe, did you hear me?" She shakes her head and looks at Paul. "I'm sorry. I didn't hear you. What did you say?" Paul sighs in frustration. I know the feeling. "Your mom has a boyfriend!" I raise my eyebrow as Chloe screams and jumps up and down. "What?! Okay! Stay focused, Chloe! I need to use your phone, Paul." I suppress my giggles as Paul slowly hands his phone to Chloe. "Were you just talking to yourself?" I watch Chloe ignore him and call her mom. She hangs up and tries again. I don't focus on their conversation as I think about how I could get Chloe to trust me again. "His...name...is a GIRL name." I tune into their conversation focus on what's going on. "Uh-huh! I'm going to go. I will see Amy soon, right?" I watch Chloe's reaction and she nods. "Oh! Yeah! You will see her soon. I love you, mom." I smile at the cuteness. "I love you, too. Bye!" I watch Chloe end the call. "I miss you already."

My phone starts to ring and I pick it up when I see Valentina's face on the phone. "Hey, Val! What's up? How's-WHAT?!" I don't believe my ears so I ask her to repeat herself. I wasn't mistaken though. "There is a mai woman who wants to kill Chloe! That's why I'm in New York! I found out recently!" Someone wants to kill my Chloe? I look at her and she's staring at me. I leave the room swiftly to talk to Val. "Are you sure?" Before I can get an answer I hear Kai say something. "I know exactly what you're trying to do, Miss King! It won't work!" Then I hear Chloe laughing and asking him to put her down. That's good. She's totally distracted. "Yes! She's been asking around for information about Chloe. Do you know anything about this?" I think for a second. "Not really! Can I call you back? Chloe is here! Kai is distracting her, but I don't want her to know about this threat yet." Val agrees and we hang up. I walk back into the living room and Kai spots me. He puts Chloe down and turns to face me. We just look at each other for a second. Finally, I hold out my hand and Kai takes it. "Thank you for distracting her. I owe you big time." Kai shakes my hand. Who would've thought I'd be friends with a jackal? "No problem. Where's Jasmine and Luke?" I'm about to answer, but Chloe's screaming cuts me off. "THAT'S IT! ONE OF YOU NEEDS TO TELL ME WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON RIGHT THIS SECOND!" I compose myself and calmly look over at her with a big smile on my face. I guess I won't be forgiven anytime soon, but I could care less. "Shouldn't you and Paul be picking up Amy?" I look over at Jane and smile at her. "Jane, can you guard her?" I see Chloe turn to Jane, but Jane just nods at me. She exchanges a look with Paul. They grab Chloe's arms and drag her out of the penthouse. I feel Kai place his hand on my shoulder. "She'll forgive you, Alek."
