a/n: I'm back! sorry for keeping you guys waiting, I've been really sick lately. But I've healed and I've written, so without further ado... here's chapter 10!

RJ sat on her bed with her green dress spread out in front of her. She watched it as if it would attack her if she took her eyes off it. She ran a shaky hand over the silky material of the skirt, it felt the same as that night.

"Just one dance Habiba." He drawls out. "Dance with me like you dance with that white boy." He said with a sneer.

RJ's eyes filled with tears at the memory and her breathing became labored. She grabbed at her chest, praying for air to get to her lungs. She closed her eyes again only to be reminded of another memory.

"Shh, Habiba, it's ok. Don't cry, I'm gonna make you feel good." He whispered.

Her breathing wouldn't slow, and tears rolled down her cheeks. She ripped at her shirt feeling claustrophobic in the material. She grabbed the dress laying in front of her and threw it at her wall, she watched as it sunk to the floor and her tears overwhelmed her. She tried to stand and get out of her bed only for her knees to buckle and she slid down the side of her bed frame. She sat with her arms wrapped around her knees and her forehead pressing down on her kneecaps. She couldn't get her breathing under control and her vision was blurred from tears and dizziness. Her shoulder shook from her sobs and black was starting to cloud her vision. She heard her door open and the muffled sounds of her brother's voice. She felt hands on her shoulders, and she lifted her head up and saw her twin's blurred face. She reached her arms out to him and he didn't hesitate to wrap his hands around his sister's shoulders and cradle her in his arms. He ran his hand through her hair and whispered soothing words on the top of her head.

Seeing his sister in this state terrified Riff beyond words. When he walked through the door of his apartment, he could hear the muffled sobs coming from her room. When he entered, he nearly broke down into tears of his own, seeing his sister huddled in the corner of her room and the dress discarded on the other side of the room. He didn't even think about what tonight could make his sister feel, all he thought about was the stupid Sharks and setting up a rumble. All he could do now was wrap his arms around her and make her feel safe, he didn't want to see her in pain.

When RJ's breathing finally slowed, Riff pulled away to wipe the tears from her face. She let her head fall into the crook of his neck and just stayed there.

"You don't have to go to the dance if you don't want to RJ. I won't be mad, and neither will Deez." He told her while stroking the top of her head. She shook her head, keeping her nose buried in his neck. She mumbled something to him, but he couldn't hear it from where her head was, he put both hands on her face and pulled her away from his neck.

"What'd you say Rach?" he asked her while wiping tears from under her eyes. She smiled gratefully at him and grabbed onto his hands that still rested on her face.

"I really want to go." She started, looking pleadingly at him. "It just brought up a lot of bad memories." She explained, tearing her eyes away from his and looking down at the floor.

"Hey, I ain't gonna stop you sis." He said as he pulled her back into a hug. "I just want you to do this for you, not for anyone else, ya hear?" he asked her as he rested his head against his twin's. She smiled and pulled back to look at him.

"I don't want to do this for anyone else, but me. I got this bro." She reassured him and stood up. She sniffled and wiped her remaining tears off her face. She walked to the other side of the room to pick up the dress she bought a year ago. Riff smiled and watched her walk into the bathroom to change.
