Kelsie Lahote had lived in La Push, Washington for the entirety of her life

Kelsie Lahote had lived in La Push, Washington for the entirety of her life. Well, the seven years that she's been alive, that is. The girl was well loved within her tribe, despite neither of her parents being alive. Kelsie lived with her older brother, Paul, who had been quite surprised when Billy Black had handed the seemingly 2 month old over to him.

Now, she appeared to be 15 years old, even though she was only born seven years ago. It was quite complicated, and if she was being honest, she didn't quite understand it herself. Kelsie was a hybrid of sorts. According to Dr. Cullen, she was half vampire, half human. To say she was shocked was an understatement. The brunette now spent a good amount of time with the Cullen clan. They had been teaching her how to use the vampire side of her, as well as helping her figure out how to cope with aging so fast; although they had never seen this happen before. There was a lot Kelsie could do that humans could as well. She still needed to sleep, and she could still survive off of human food, so blood was a last resort.

Currently, the girl was sat on First Beach in La Push with her small friend group. Jacob Black, Quil Ateara, and Embry Call sat beside her, with her brother and a few of their older friends a little ways away. Sam Uley, Leah Clearwater and Jared Cameron were tossing around a football with the Lahote boy, while the younger four laughed and fooled around by the water.

It was sort of a tradition for the group. They all met at Jacob's after school on Friday's, and then went to the beach until either Billy Black or Harry Clearwater called them for dinner.

"Did you hear Chief Swan's daughter is moving back to Forks?" Jacob spoke, playing with the sand next to him.

"Really? Wow. Bummer for her. Moving from sunny Arizona to rainy Washington. Not the best." Kelsie let out a dry laugh at Quil's statement.

"Well hopefully I get to meet her. I could use more female friends." Kelsie stated, pushing Embry slightly.

"Yeah, cause you hate hanging out with us." Embry joked, nudging her shoulder, before moving off the log and sitting in front of the girl.

"My dad and I are going over to Charlie's tomorrow to welcome her. You wanna come with, Kelsie?" Jacob asked, looking at the girl who was now braiding Embry's hair.

"No, I'll be studying with Paul. Gotta get my education somehow, right?" Kelsie was homeschooled, as suggested by Billy. She had grown too fast, and the Elders of the Quilette tribe were worried people would notice if she went to public school.

The four teens sat in a comfortable silence. Jacob and Quil were attempting to build a sandcastle, and Kelsie was braiding Embry's hair. The other four of the group, who Kelsie had named the older siblings, were headed back to the younger four; Paul with the football, still tossing it back and forth with Jared. Sam and Leah took their place next to Quil on a blanket, while Paul sat next to his sister, ruffling her hair.

From anyone elses point of view, they were just a group of teenagers with long hair and tan skin. But to Billy and Harry, who both watched from Harry's truck as they messed around, they were a group of best friends who would do anything for each other. Both men just hoped the boys wouldn't be forced to stop talking to Leah and Kelsie any time soon.

"Think about it. Let it consume your mind." Edwards voice was the only thing Kelsie heard. She had her eyes closed, trying to disappear from his vision. Mind Manipulation and Invisibility. Two of the rare gifts within the vampire community. Yet somehow, a hybrid got both. Carlisle had Edward, Alice, and Jasper helping her try to control it. So far, it had been working, seeing as she hadn't disappeared in front of her friends yet.

"I'm trying Edward. It's not working!" Kelsie yelled, getting frustrated with herself. "This is stupid!"

"Try again." He demanded. The brunette only got more frustrated; she couldn't do it, and Edward knew that. But still, he pushed. He wanted her to succeed.

"All that's in my mind is your stupid thoughts." Kelsie groaned, wanting to give up.

"Edward. That's enough for today. Jasper will continue with her tomorrow." Carlisle spoke, entering the room. With a sigh, Edward left the room. Kelsie ran a hand through her hair, following behind him.

Instead of joining the Cullen family in their living room, Kelsie left the house, heading for the woods. She had discovered that it was the easiest way to get back to La Push. Jacob would be at the Swan residence with Billy right now, so her only choice was to head to her own home. Paul would most likely be watching a movie on the couch, so she could easily just sit with him, and enjoy some sibling time. However, Kelsie knew she would end up at the Call house eventually.

Her days got repetitive sometimes, and sometimes she wished that would change, she just didn't think Bella Swan would be the reason.
