One week. That's how long it had been since Kelsie had spoken to her brother. How long she had been living with Embry and his mom. She was doing okay without him, but she missed Paul like crazy.

"Kels! Jake wants to know if you're coming to the bonfire at his place tonight?" Embry asked, bouncing into his room with Quil behind him.

"Who's all going to be there?" Kelsie questioned, sitting up from her place on the floor.

"Us, Jake and his dad, and the Clearwaters. And of course, my mom and Quil's parents." Embry's smile could be heard in the way he spoke.

"Yeah I'll go. Sounds like it'll be fun." The girl stood up, grabbing a pair of leggings and a longsleeve shirt from her drawer in Embry's dresser.

Knowing she would get cold, despite being around a fire, Kelsie grabbed a sweatshirt from Embry's closet. It was a habit she had picked up, as his sweaters were always warmer than her own. The trio of friends left the room, piling down the stairs and into Tiffany Call's car. The entire ride to Billy Black's place was spent with the three teens laughing and shoving into each other. This was one thing Tiffany could never get sick of, she absolutely loved when Embry and his friends spent time together. That's when the boy was at his happiest.

The bonfire was more fun than Kelsie had anticipated. The group of friends played a game of tag (which was started by Quil) and made so many s'mores that the adults had to eat some too. Seth and Leah Clearwater had joined the four friends as they joked around and laughed around the fire, while the elders all watched, hoping none of them would have the same fate as Sam Uley, Jared Cameron and Paul Lahote.

Billy knew it was inevitable for his son, especially with Jacob's great grandfather once being the alpha of the pack. The only one's of the group that would never change were Embry, Leah, and Kelsie; Embry wasn't of Quileute descent, and there were no records of female wolves, which was good for them. At least Kelsie would still have one friend. He was worried however, that her being have vampire would affect hers and Pauls relationship once he was ready to be around her again. Billy and Harry actually wondered if Kelsie had been the reason the three boys had shifted; her vampire side might have enhanced the gene. Which meant if it was her, it wouldn't be much longer until the other boys had phased as well. Which would probably hurt Kelsie and Embry more than ever.

Thunderstorms. Kelsie's favorite weather. She could sit on her porch all day and just listen to the rain. It was calming. Sometimes she'd have a book, others she'd just be curled up in a blanket listening to the rain and the thunder. Today, she sat quietly on the swing that was on the Lahote home's porch. She had gone home yesterday, hoping Paul would be there; he was, and he apologized for his note.

The girl was in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt, despite it being a bit cold outside. She was starting to feel the coldness, but she wouldn't do anything about it. Paul, who had noticed his sister watching the rain, emerged from the house with a blanket in his hands. Sitting down next to Kelsie, he draped the blanket over both of them, watching the water run down the driveway.

"I'm sorry about making you stay with the Call's. I'll make it up to you, I promise." Paul spoke softly; something he only did when he was around Kelsie.

"It's fine. I'm not upset anymore." Kelsie replied, giving him a small smile. She had a feeling she knew what was happening with him, Sam, and Jared. But she would never make it known that she knew.

"Sam has a new girlfriend." The older of the two said, trying to make conversation. "Emily Young."

"Really? Leah must not be happy about that." Kelsie remarked, knowing that Emily was the Clearwater siblings older cousin.

"She'll get over it. How's Embry been?"

"He's good! Him, Quil, and I just had a movie marathon the other day." Kelsie smiled at the memory. Every memory that involved the Call boy was a happy one.

"That's good. Keep him around. He's good for you." Paul smiled at his baby sister. He needed her to have as much love and as many friends as possible in her life, because truthfully, nobody knew how long she would live. She had only been introduced to everyone in La Push around a year ago; Paul had told everyone that she had been living with their aunt and uncle in Seattle. She stopped rapidly aging last year, and now she ages one year at a time, like everyone else. Paul's scared that soon she'll stop aging completely, or that she'll suddenly start aging at a fast pace again. He didn't know what he would do if suddenly she was gone.

"I will, Bry's not going anywhere. He's stuck with me." The teen laughed, bringing her knees up against her chest.

The siblings sat in a comfortable silence, something they didn't get to do often. Paul was contemplating whether to tell Kelsie about him or not. He had just found out why she really aged so quickly, it wasn't a genetic mutation like Billy said it was, but he wasn't sure if she knew that shapeshifters existed or not.

"So, do you think you're going to age normally now?" Paul asked, scared to upset the girl.

"I hope so. I like my friends, I don't want to have to leave them." Kelsie answered nonchalantly.

She could read Pauls mind, she knew that he knew what she was. She knew he wasn't scared, and she knew what he was. She finally had the answer as to why everyone's been changing. Why they got really hot in temperature before they basically ghosted everyone. Why they stuck together. Sam, Jared, and Paul. Like a pack. Because they were one. Kelsie's brother and his friends are wolves. She knew that for certain now.
