Two weeks had passed

Two weeks had passed. Kelsie's anger wasn't a problem, but now the pack faced a new issue. She was upset. Kelsie had done what she does everytime she's overwhelmingly sad; she sort of went non-verbal. But this time, Paul could barely communicate with her. She was starting to shut everyone out. It wasn't that she wasn't grateful for her life, she was. It's the fact that she had told herself that she was never going to not be friends with Embry, and in the span of a week, she had to completely cut all ties with him. It hurt her more than she would like to admit.

"Kels, come on. Emily made lunch." Paul said, waiting for her by the door. She was still hanging around the pack, but she only ever spoke when it was just her and Paul.

The siblings walked the short distance through the woods to Emily's cottage. There they found Sam and Jared, already eating, and Emily, who was setting two more plates on the table for the remaining wolves. They spent most of their time at the small home, as it had unofficially been deemed the pack house. The boys all laughed and joked around as they ate, while Kelsie sat quietly, staring at the plate of pasta in front of her. She hadn't been doing a lot of normal things anymore; eating, sleeping, talking. The pack was worried, especially Sam. It felt as if Kelsie wasn't fourth in command, but instead was the pack pup. She was different than a normal wolf, she was special. Someone they had to protect at all costs. Even more than they already protected each other.

"Kelsie, we're worried about you." Sam carefully spoke to her, worried that she would yell at him.

"If you're so worried about my mental health then let me see him." Kelsie muttered angrily.

"You're speaking to me. That's a start."

"I want Embry. I need to at least let him know we can't be friends anymore. I don't like that he thinks I've ghosted him." The Lahote girl had tears in her eyes. She truly cared for Embry, yet Sam wouldn't let her even see him.

"You know you can't do that." Paul had joined the conversation now.

"I don't get what the big deal is! Just let me say a proper goodbye." Kelsie cried. "I won't even look him in the eyes."

"Scared you'll imprint?" Jared smirked, grabbing a piece of bread off the counter.

"Scared I won't. I'm scared it won't be him." Her voice was small, almost a whisper. If she wasn't going to see Embry anymore, there was no point in risking the imprint. He didn't need to be dragged into all of this.

"Kelsie, as much as I would like for you to be better, I can't just let you–" Sam was cut off by a howl coming from the woods. A new wolf. Immediately all four pack members were on their feet, until Kelsie wasn't.

"Kelsie stay here, we don't know who it is yet, and they'll be scared." Sam ordered. If there's one thing she hated, it was when Sam used his alpha voice on her.

"Can I at least listen in?" Giving Sam a look of pleading, the girl sat back down. Once he nodded, she smiled, tuning into the pack's thoughts.

Paul and Jared quickly found the new wolf, Jared phasing back to his human form before approaching him. Just as Sam had arrived, Jared managed to get the new pack member to shift back to being human. And they were surprised to see who it was. The 16 year old boy had pulled on the sweatpants Sam had brought for him, confusion written on his face. Deciding to stay in the woods, Sam phased back, and began to explain everything to the boy. Although, he wasn't even sure how this was possible, but the pack had gained a new brother.

Kelsie's eyes grew wide as she read Sam's thoughts. They were telling her everything but the boys name, and he was too far away for her to see what he was seeing. She was frustrated. She wanted to know who it was. Jacob? Quil? Maybe even Seth Clearwater? He was a bit too young, but with a faint vampire trail that Sam had caught, it could be possible.

"What's the matter Kels?" Emily asked, taking a seat across from her.

"None of them are thinking about the new wolf's name. They don't want me to know yet, and it's frustrating." Kelsie groaned, laying her hear on the table.

"They'll all be back here soon enough." Emily reassured her.

Both girls were excited to meet the new pack member, and the boys knew Kelsie in particular would be estatic to know who it is. Sam now had a ton of questions for the elders and the council members. The newset member of the Uley pack wasn't even a Quileute descendant, yet here he was. Sam was sure of one thing; one of their fathers had an affair, and he was determined to find out who. That was the only explanation. Otherwise how else would Embry Call have become the newest member of the wolf pack.
