Chapter 15
She opened the door a minute later with a dark towel wrapped around her body.
"This might be a stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway. Do you have any extra toothbrushes? I think I left mines in that stupid hotel."
She stepped aside to let him walk into the bathroom.
He went to the sink and showed her his toothbrush holder. There are five toothbrushes in it.
"Are any of them brand new?"
"I think I have used all of them before, I can't really remember," he shrugged. "The green one is my usual one and I use it everyday."
"Why did you use all five of them?"
"I don't know," he smiled. "They all came in a package together so I put them all in the holder. When I'm in a rush I just grab a random one and use it. I didn't think there would come a day where I would have to share one of them."
She randomly picked the pink one. "You never thought that it would be a good idea to keep a spare one for guest."
"I don't normally have guest here. My parents and Anthony and Jasmine with their kids are the only people who visit. They usually come prepared with everything they need."
For some reason that made her feel special. She's the first girl outside of his family that he has had in his house. It's good to see that he respects his home.
She turned on the hot water and rinsed the toothbrush. "There's nothing that I should be worried about by using this, right."
He sat on the side of the sink. He tilted his head to the side and stared at her lips. "You're asking this question kind of late. We've already kissed. A lot. If you wanted to know where my mouth has been, you should have asked before we did that."
She blushed and looked at him hotly. "I don't know what you normally did with your mouth before you met me. You could be one of those guys who like to brush their teeth after being with a woman."
Her statement sounds like an open question of whether or not he's had a lover recently. He can tell by the sassy way her smirk is quirked upward and her dark eyes are staring into his. She wants his honest answer.
"I'm not a womanizer. I've been with women in the past but nothing serious. That was months ago, many months ago, and these toothbrushes are kind of new. What about you. Where has yours been lately," he smirked.
She let out a small laugh and looked away. "It has been a long, really long while. It has only been on you."
"That's good to know. Well go ahead and brush your teeth. I am clean of everything. I got my last check up weeks ago and I always use protection." Well at least he did in the past.
Things seemed to have gotten a little awkward between them after saying that. He knows that her mind has drifted to the same thing he's thinking about.
She avoided his eyes as she brushed her teeth. She brushed way longer than she needed to in hopes that he would get the picture and leave the room. But he stood his ground and waited until she was done.
It took her a moment to muster up enough courage to finally turn back around and look at him.
Immediately he began to sign an apology. "I'm sorry about the protection thing," he struggled to find the right words. By the way her eyes wavered she knows exactly what he's trying to say. "....I'm usually more careful than that."
"I don't think what happened was in your control," she whispered. He can't blame himself for what happened. It was that death trap of an elevator's fault.
