Chapter 17
Liana walked into the building with Dylan following so closely behind her that she can feel his body heat. She groaned when she saw just how many people were inside. This is going to be a long day.
Everyone seemed to noticed that the both of them had arrived at the same time. They began pushing and running towards them.
Jeremy broke through the crazy people. "If you want to act like animals you can take that type of behavior outside. We're all adults here. Let's act like it."
That seemed to calm everyone down a bit.
He walked over and gave Liana a hug.
At first she was shocked and stood still. Then she remembered that every one had thought that she was dead. She hugged him back.
"Chelsea is upstairs waiting for you. I'll be up there soon. I already clocked you in so you can head straight up there."
She gave Dylan one last looked and went her separate way.
She trudged up the stairs as slowly as possible so that her heart wouldn't pound fast. The faster your heart, the more breaths you have to take.
Finally she made it to the supply room and was immediately bum rushed by Chelsea.
"Liana," she screamed. She ran to her and jumped on her, wrapping her legs around her and hugging her tight.
Liana laughed and stumbled backwards and fell.
"You're really alive. I had to do more than just hear your voice to see that it's true ," Chelsea laughed.
She is aware that she is on the ground and that Chelsea is on top of her. This is an awkward position to be in. "Yes I'm alive... and I'm am totally aware that you're on top of me."
She tilted her head to the side. "This is weird isn't it. Should I get up?"
"You're kind of crushing my stomach with your butt so yeah I think that that will be a good idea."
Chelsea stood and helped her up. She bounced up and down excitedly. "I am so glad to see you. It feels like I haven't seen you in forever."
Liana dusted her clothes off. "It has been a long few days."
She hugged her again. This time it was long and warm and loving. "Don't scare me like that ever again. If something ever happens to you I need you to text or call me to let me know that you are all right. Please."
"Okay," she whispered. She had forgotten what it felt like to actually have a friend that cares so much about her.
"I mean it. I have designated myself as your number one best friend and that means that I should always receive the first call that you're okay."
They looked at each other with tears in both of their eyes. They burst out laughing.
Liana wiped the tears from her eyes and sniffled some. "It was so scary in there. If Dylan had not been in their with me to calm me down, I wouldn't be in here right now. I would be in some mental hospital right. I tend to over react in situations and drive my own self crazy."
Chelsea giggled. "I was so scared for you. Vince was the one who called me and told me to turn on the news. He's always up late. When he heard me cry he rushed over and picked me up and took me to his house. That's the first time we ever spent the night together."
"Aww. You guys are pretty close now?"
She smiled and dreamily sighed. "I think I'm in love with him. I know we haven't been together for that long, but for the first time I'm in a relationship where there's complete trust and the both of us chase each other." Then Chelsea's face changed from joyful to serious. "You were in that elevator for hours. What happened in there? What was it like?"
Jeremy opened the door.
"I'll tell you about it later," Liana whispered.
"Should I ask those people to leave? It's up to you," he said to her.
"I guess they can stay. As long as so many of them aren't screaming questions at me and crowding me in. I don't think I can handle that kind of pressure and confinement right now."
"I'll get every thing under control. I didn't want to let all of those people in but some of them can be convincing in getting what they want. And it's actually good business. I have gotten so many membership request this morning. The most important question I have for you is: Are you doing all right? If you aren't you are free to have the rest of the day off."
"I'm okay," she assured him.
"Are you positive. Dylan gave me a note that says that I should watch you closely and that if you don't look okay to send you home. He also said that the doctor recommended that you take the day off but you're to stubborn to listen. His words not mines."
Liana's smiling on the inside. Dylan seems to really be trying hard to get his way. "The doctor said no such thing." He did tell her to get in contact with her own doctor as soon as possible though.
Jeremy took a sheet of paper out of his pocket and handed it to her. "Well that's what it says on this sheet of paper he gave me."
Sure enough when she opened the paper every thing he said was on it word for word. Then there's the side note that Dylan wrote. 'If she refuses to leave come and get me and I'll handle her'.
"Handle me?" she laughed out loud. He's really serious about this.
Chelsea read the paper from over her shoulder. "It looks like someone wanted you to stay home and get some rest."
Liana crumbled the paper and stuffed it in her pocket. She doesn't need him to write little letters to her boss just because he's worried. She can take care of herself. She knows how much work she can take.
She really needs the money. And plus, staying in the hot spring air when she could be sitting in an air conditioned building is not a luxury that she wants to pass up on today.
"Mr. Jeremy I feel good enough to work today," she said again. It's seems like every one can hear her saying that but aren't really listening.
"Okay, okay. But I will be watching you. I am very concerned about you."
She sees why everyone is concerned but she's fine. She can handle some chest pains. They won't kill her. She'll hopefully be back to normal in a few days.
Jeremy left the room.
"Handle you?" Chelsea immediately questioned with a smirk. "Do you guys have some type of kinky relationship going on that I should know about. And before you even think about lying just remember that I am your newly appointed best friend and that the truth will set you free."
"There is nothing kinky going on," she laughed.
"There is some type of relationship though. Right."
"Yeah I guess, but for right now it's undefined. We can call it dating for now. He thinks it is his responsibility to make sure that I am all right."
"If a man is trying to take care of you, let him do it. Don't fight it. Some good attention and pampering will have you feeling better in no time."
"He already has enough work to do. The weekends almost here and I'll be able to take care of my own self then."
"Dylan is right. You are a little stubborn. Why are you fighting his need to help you."
"I have to work. I really need this money. I know it's hard for you to understand but just trust me on this." If everyone knew that she was homeless then they would probably get off her back some, but that's humiliation on her part that she doesn't want to face. This is something that she doesn't want anyone to ever find out.
"I trust you. I can also see that you're hiding something, but I'm not going to pressure you into telling me. Yet," she added with a smile. "Just know that if you ever need anything ask me. I won't judge you and I will be glad to help."
Liana returned the smile. "You're really good at this new best friend thing we got going on."
It's good to know that she at least have two people who got her back now.
