Chapter 35
One year later.
"Liana, I have a surprise for you." Jasmine is holding a gift bag in her hand.
Liana turns around to Jasmine and Chelsea who have just walked in with their matching yellow dresses on. Both of them squeal as she turns around and reveals her dolled up face and hair that compliments her white dress.
"Oh my!"
"Does it really look good," she asked nervously. She has been going to physical therapy for months to help in her in recovery from her surgery, and she also hired a personal trainer to make sure that she lost some of the weight that she had gained during that time. She only lost 20 of the 40 lbs she had gained, to include most of which she gained during her pregnancy.
All in all, she is seemingly satisfied that she could zip up her dress this morning.
"You look amazing," Jasmine says. "I am so happy that this day has come for you."
Liana never thought that she would have the wedding she had always planned for. It was a hard battle to get this far but definitely worth it.
If it wasn't for the support of her extended family and Dylan so patiently helping her through her days of pain and restless nights, none of this would be.
"I thought that the bride opens her gifts later on after the ceremony," she pointedly states.
"Oh, you're going to want to open this one," Chelsea smiles.
Jasmine thrust the bag at her. "This is a gift that Chelsea, Vincino, and Anthony and I have spent months tracking down. We split up and went different routes to try and find it."
Liana scrunched her eyebrows together. She has no idea what this could be.
She opens the bag and there is a small box in there. She glances up at the girls for a second.
"Go ahead and open it up," Chelsea encourages her.
Liana opens up the box and her mouth drop. She's speechless.
"How- how did you guys know," she whispers.
"I know that it may have been a personal family matter, but Dylan wanted this for you. He told us about what happened and how much it would mean to you for you to have it on your wedding day."
Liana picks up the necklace that she has had in remembrance of her father for years.
"And I paid to have it fixed," Chelsea says, just in case she's wondering.
Liana checks the necklace for its authenticity, and sure enough, she spots the small letters 'jm' engraved in the piece. That's something that she had never told any of them about. Those initials stand for James Michaels.
"We didn't find the ring, though. Sorry," she adds.
"It's okay," her lips tremble and eyes water. "This is perfect."
Jasmine grabs a tissue. "Please don't cry." She dots the tears away for her. "Let him get a look at the flawless look first."
"Thank you guys so much," she gives them a group hug. "I'm so happy to call you guys my best friends."
The door opens again and in walks Ray and Ling.
Ray is dressed in the same tailored tux that he wore on his own special day many years ago.
"It's about that time," he smiles.
The girls rush out of the room to find their places.
"Lee," Ling gives her a hug. "I am glad you are happy now. You have come long way. You deserve this."
