Chapter 15

It was 4:30pm when we set off for the park. Five minutes passed and we got to the park. We made sure Phoenix had a coat on, as she still couldn't control her powers properly yet, before we set off as it was getting colder. Claire had a leather jacket on and I don't wrap up because I can use my powers to keep me warm.

Luckily no one else was there when we arrived. Phoenix immediately ran to the swing set and tried climbing onto a swing. I ran after her and helped her onto the swing. I then asked Claire to push her on the swing. She nodded and did exactly that. I stood in front of the swing set.

"Okay. So it's a big surprise."

Claire stopped the swing as quick as she could so her and Phoenix could pay attention.

I then started changing into my goddess form; full fiery body, same fiery dress as before, fiery wings, fire in my eyes and blood red hair - a lighter shade than my normal hair colour, my figure growing taller to around 7'0 and formation complete as I wasn't getting my fiery sword out on view.

Both of their mouths dropped open.

"You awe bootiful, mummy!" Phoenix called up to me.

I shrunk to my regular small figure but keeping my goddess appearance as Phoenix ran over and hugged my waist "Thank you, sweetheart."

Claire walked over cautiously.

I looked at her and smiled "The fire won't burn you, Claire."

She then ran over and hugged me "You're the fire goddess." she buried her tears into my shoulder before eventually pulling away and wiping her tears.

"Fiwe goddess?" Phoenix asked.

I got down to Phoenix's level and smiled "Mummy is the new fire goddess," I started "When the last fire goddess dies, another one is born and it was me."

"Am I a goddess?" she put the tip of her index finger in her mouth.

I giggled then kissed her button nose "You're always my beautiful goddess, sweetheart."

She then kissed my fiery nose before wrapping her arms around my neck. I picked her up and hugged her tightly. Whilst she had her eyes shut tight, I transformed back to my regular self. When she opened her eyes, her jaw dropped.

"Tada!" I smiled.

"Magic!" Phoenix answered, shocked.

Claire giggled from behind us "I couldn't believe my eyes either."

We stayed at the park for a little longer so Phoenix could enjoy herself on the swings. She loves the swings. A little longer as in an hour, she was really enjoying herself on the swings.

It was coming up to 6pm when we got home. Myself and Phoenix sat at the table whilst Claire walked unto the kitchen to make us all dinner. We eventually bought a third chair for the dining table so there was enough for all three of us to sit together. Claire didn't exactly make dinner; she just ended up heating some noodles for us all to eat in a microwave, something quick and easy seeing as we were just out for quite sometime.

Two days had passed and it was finally time to go after Connor's parents. After all these years of thinking and planning, I didn't have a plan on how I'd kill his parents but I want it to be brutal. Maybe even more brutal than Mr Jones' death.

It's also good for a birthday present, I'm finally twenty-two. I told Claire yesterday we'd celebrate my birthday up until noon so then I'd have enough time to track down Connor's parents and murder them in cold blood.

The celebration was nice. We woke up at 8am to spend those four hours together as a family. We didn't do a lot as, even after five years of being a mum, I'm not used to people celebrating my birthday. So I was given two gifts; one from Claire and one from Phoenix.

Claire's gift was a bracelet. The bracelet was gold with silver writing that wrapped around the whole bracelet.

Love you no matter what!

It's a small message but one I need to read everyday. I hugged her so tight and almost cried. I think she knew it meant a lot to me. I put it on immediately and I'm never taking it off. It's a perfect fit too so it won't slide off in the night.

Then it was Phoenix's gift. She also got me a jewellery piece but it was a necklace. The chain used is gold, the heart is red and the writing is silver. I'm guessing they both went along with the same colour scheme of gold and silver, excluding the red. The writing was on the red heart and it said; Mummy. The heart itself was medium sized and was just perfect. I looked over at my daughter who was sat on the floor in front of me. She was still wearing her pink pajamas at the time. She stood up and gave me a big hug as I held my arms out for one.

"Thank you so much, sweetheart." I said as I gave her cheek a kiss.

She giggled at the sudden kiss on her small cheek "I hope oo like it, mummy." she said as she pulled away and looked into my eyes.

I looked back into her brown eyes before smiling once more "I love it." I then kissed her forehead and she carefully got off the sofa to sit back on the floor.

I put the necklace on and they both told me how beautiful it was on me. I promised them both they were never coming off.

I then opened the card they made together. It was a folded piece of paper that had drawings on the front from Phoenix. She drew and coloured my goddess form. Claire wrote on the front of the card which said:

Happy 22nd birthday, you shine brighter than the sun!

Inside the card, Phoenix actually wrote for her and Claire. It said:

To Ruby/mummy

Happy birthday mummy! I hope you have a good day today!

Phoenix and Claire xxxxx

My heart just melted. It was obvious Claire helped out but it still warmed me.

We had about three hours after opening presents and cards. Claire sat us all at the table as she brought the chocolate cake. The candles represented my age. They both sang happy birthday then I made my wish before blowing out the candles.

My wish was to kill Connor's parents.
