Before I knew it, I was in my goddess form - my height unchanged from my normal form - and they were both burnt to a crisp on the burnt grey sofa.

As I changed back and was about to leave, I hear the front door open then close.

"Mum? Dad?" the familiar voice called out as footsteps grew louder.

I was stood by the midnight coloured corpses as she walked in.

"What the fuck?!" she screamed as she ran over to her parents' corpses, pushing me out of the way.

"River, I can explain-"

"Save it."

I stood there, trying to get my hand to tap her shoulder as I heard her cry.

"Please?"

"No! Save your stupid explanation."

I grew impatient and grabbed her forearm as I dragged her closer to me. Finally, she looked at me, pulling her arm free.

"Nothing you can say will give you an excuse for killing my parents."

"Really?"

"Yes. Actually, you don't deserve your title of the fire goddess. You're a no one; you're just a murderer."

"Now that's a low blow."

"How exactly when you killed them for no fucking reason?!"

"Because they had a child before you?!" I blurted.

Her mouth was open but she wasn't saying anything. Her tongue twisted to my comment "W-what?"

"You had an older brother, River."

"No," she shook her head "N-no, no," she stuttered once more "They can't have, they would've told me." she said, tears streaming down her face.

"Then why don't we try and find some pictures of him so you can see for yourself?"

"You think there'll still be pictures?"

"Yes, they never got over losing him."

"How do you know?"

"Because you're their replacement to try and get over his death." I blurted.

She completely froze, her eyes widened. I pulled her in for a hug. She slowly wrapped her arms around me before digging her face into my shoulder and cried. I rubbed her back in reassurance but we both stayed silent, excluding her cries and sniffles.

After what felt like forever, we pulled away and agreed to look around the house to try and find any pictures.

Barely stepping out of the living room, River tapped my shoulder - as I was in front of her. I turned to face her "What is it?"

Her hands were clasped together and was looking down "Mum and dad always told me to never enter their bedroom or I'd get beaten. Do you think there could be pictures in there?" she finally looked into my eyes, tears making her face redder than blush could.

I just stared at her from her statement before the question. I then nodded "Sorry," I paused "Where's your parents' room?"

I stepped out the way as she walked on to the stairs. I followed her as she got to the second floor. I walked up the stairs as I peeked my eyes over at her hand on a door handle. I walked up the last step, waiting for her to open it.
