Chapter 29

"Beth honey, wake up" Miss Elizabeth gently shook my shoulder.

"Yes?" I groggily ask while rubbing my eyes. I was still laying on Hayes chest and Hayes was still asleep. I didn't sit up because it hurt to even sit still.

"We need to talk" she walked over to the other side of the bed so I could face her and not have to move.

"It's about Ali isn't it?" I asked.

"Yes dear, your mom would have told you but she's with Katie"

"Please just tell me that you know what happened to her" I quietly sobbed. By now Hayes was awake and so were the all the boys who fell asleep in the room.

I didn't even notice them which means I'm really tired. So tired that I didn't notice the nine other boys sleeping around the tiny room.

"Ok well, the police found her in the basement of the other man's house half an hour away from the house they found you at."

'Ali must have been terrified. No, she's tough. Ya, but anyone would've been terrified in that situation.' I tried to convince myself that she was a strong person and that she will be alright.

"She was unconscious" I let out another quiet sob and she continued "She was covered in blood and was very badly bruised all over her body." She paused.

"Ok keep going" I cried

"That's it. We haven't seen her or heard anything from the doctors since they brought her to the operating room."

"So we don't even know if she's alive?" I angrily yelled.

"Beth it will be ok" she assured me.

"We don't know that!" I yelled. She looked a little shocked by how loud it was.

"I'm sorry I'm just upset" I said quietly.

"You have the right to be" she squeezed my arm. "But I have good news, you are aloud to leave your room in a wheelchair to go eat and when Ali gets out from surgery you can go see her. But no walking"

I nodded my head. Thank god I could leave this draining, boring room.

"I'm going to check on Katie and your mom now but the boys will stay here with you until you want to go down to eat for breakfast" she said as she walked out of the room.

She came back a second later and said "boys, let's try not to break her, ok? We don't want another. wheelchair incident." She pointed at all the boys and looked at them sternly. They laughed and nodded their heads.

She left and Hayes got up. "I'll be right back I have to go to the bathroom"

"You know Beth, Hayes just fell asleep about an hour ago. He wanted to make sure someone would be awake just in case something happened to you. And even when our mom came in he wouldn't fall asleep because he wanted to know that you were ok. He finally fell asleep when his body made him. He hasn't slept since the day you were taken." Nash told me and all the boys nodded in agreement.

I smiled but then felt bad when I realized he has only had an hour of sleep.

He walked back into the room with a wheelchair for me.

"You guys don't have to stay with me, I don't mind if you go home and sleep" I say while pulling the blankets over me.

"Except for you Hayes, you need to stay with me and cuddle" I joked. He laughed, but I knew he wasn't going to leave anyways.

I'm really lucky to have Hayes. In all honesty, I see myself having a future with him. And I never saw that with Brandt.

"We're not leaving Beth" Jack laughed
