Myrtle goggled at them as they emerged from the shadowy sink opening, Fawkes dropping them onto the bathroom floor.

"You're alive," she said blankly.

"There's no need to sound disappointed," Harry said grimly, wiping flecks of blood and slime off his glasses.

"I would have to agree, better alive then dead," Alax said, trying to wipe the dried blood on his hands off on his cloak.

"Oh, well...I'd just been thinking...if you had died, you'd be welcome to share my toilet, either of you it wouldn't have mattered," said Myrtle, blushing silver.

"Urgh!" said Ron as they left the bathroom for the dark, deserted corridor outside.

"Myrtle doesn't seem to know which of you she wants," Ron said.

"At least with Myrtle bugging Alax, that slims down the competition for Harry, eh Ginny!" Ron said to her.

But tears were still flooding silently down Ginny's face.

Ron looked solemnly before joining Harry and Alax in a circle.

"Where now?" Ron asked, with an anxious look at his sister.

Harry pointed.

Fawkes was leading the way, glowing gold along the corridor. They strode after him, and moments later, found themselves outside Professor McGonagall's office.

Harry knocked and pushed the door open.

For a moment there was silence as Harry, Alaxandr, Ron, Ginny, and Lockhart stood in the doorway, covered in muck and slime and in Alaxandr's case, blood. Then there was a scream.

"Ginny!"

It was a woman who could only be her mother from what Alax could pick up. She had been crying in front of a fire before she leapt to her feet, closely followed by the man Alax remembered being introduced to at the bookstore.

They both flung themselves onto their daughter.

Alax had to look away, it felt awkward to watch such an intimate moment, so his eyes wandered, catching something that Harry himself was looking at.

Professor Dumbledore was standing by the mantelpiece, beaming, next to Professor McGonagall, who was taking great, steadying gasps, clutching her chest, and Professor Snape, who had a hidden surprised look behind his usual blank demeanour.

Fawkes went whooshing past Harry and Alaxandr's shoulder, his feathers just barely brushing his face before settling on Dumbledore's shoulder.

"You saved her, you two saved her," he heard the woman say as she hugged Harry and Ron.

"It wasn't just us Mrs.Weasley," Harry said, focusing his look on Alax, Mrs. Weasley did the same as she finally looked upon the dirty boy.

"Oh, and who might you be?" she asked.

"Alaxandr Prince Ma'am," he said.

"And...you helped save my Ginny?" she asked. Alax gave her a closed smile as he nodded his head.

Just then, Alax himself was pulled into a hug as Ginevra's mother had him in a tight embrace.

"You saved her, you saved her! Thank you, thank you. How did you do it?" she asked, looking at the three.

Suddenly Mr. Weasley perked up, looking at the boy.

"Validan's son, that's right, I didn't recognize you at first. We met him at the bookstore back at diagon Alley, Molly" Mr Weasley said.
