BACK TO THE NORM....kind of
CHAERIN WAS SITTING in a meadow littered with flowers of all kinds. Enchanting scents and the cheerful chirping of the colorful birds around her placed the girl in a calm sense.
How long has it been since she lost her consciousness?
The girl just rolled around lazily, a hand reaching out to trace long, languid patterns in the lake near her. The water swirled and rippled at her touch, glowing wherever it made contact with her.
Chaerin was wearing a light, pale blue chiton, her once short hair now long and luscious, reaching her feet. She felt calm and relaxed.
“Chaerin…”
“Huh?” the girl turned around to see a familiar person. “M-mom?!” She scrambled to her feet, rushing towards her mother and embracing her quickly.
“Do you want to come with us, dear?” her mother asked softly, stroking her daughter’s hair.
“What do you mean?” Chaerin cried, looking at her mother questioningly.
“She means, do you wanna stay with us?” Areum appeared from behind, ruffling her sister’s hair teasingly.
“U-unnie,” Chaerin stuttered, overwhelmed at the sight of her family.
“So what do you say, noona?” another voice spoke innocently, tugging at the hem of her dress. Chaerin looked down to see a young boy, about seven, staring back at her with large, lilac eyes, his messy raven black hair shining under the sunlight.
“H-h-Haneul, is that y-you-?” Chaerin fell to her knees, hugging the brother she never got to see.
“Yes, noona.” The boy smiled, his large doe eyes closing.
She was here with her family, what more could Chaerin want?
But something tugged at her heartstrings, and memories from her current life flashed in her mind. She immediately backed up, clutching her head as a headache speared through it.
“I-I am…sorry. I have to go back, Jin-woo’s waiting for me!” She tried to walk away before something grabbed her. Looking back, she found that her family was gone. In their place hung their dead corpses, the landscape around her darkening as well. The lake turned a murky red, the flowers wilting away while the trees stood barren. Animals fell down dead, their eyes wide and black. Darkness swept over her, the once shining sun now replaced with a black void
Two eyes, dark purple with red spotting them, stared at the cowering girl menacingly. “You can’t escape yourself, Chaerin…” it stated, a sinister grin erupting on its face. The person cackled like a maniac, sharp canines glinting in the darkness.
