Soonyoung threw a punch. The punching bag just took it.
He released a few more blows in succession.
He was in a very bad mood right now. He felt extremely disappointed and disrespected by Mingyu’s actions. He almost wanted to just throw hands with the guy.
Jay was right, though.
The younger idol was right to stop him from a potential disaster. If he had gone to ‘speak’ to Mingyu immediately after, chances are there would be more than ‘speaking’ happening.
Soonyoung continued to work out in the Han mansion while the rest of the gang went to swim in the pool.
“Need a spotter, hyung? Or perhaps a sparring partner?” A voice came from the doorway. Soonyoung turned to look. It was Jay.
“You seem to be my angel today, Jongseong.” Soonyoung motioned with his head to let him come in.
“I’m here for you, hyung.” Jay picked up a boxing pad. “C’mon just let it out.”
“Nah, its fine.” Soonyoung went to punch the punching bag again.
“Hyung, you are going to have to express your pent up emotions one way or the other. Between me and the punching bag, I can safely say I talk back.”
Soonyoung thought about it for a second and walked towards the younger idol. “Yeah, you’re right.”
Jay positioned himself In front of Soonyoung. “I can’t imagine what you must be feeling right now, hyung.”
“It’s hard to express which ones of my emotions are taking center stage at the moment.” Punch.
“I can’t burden you with the mental torture of these feelings right now.” Punch.
“I mean, you’re still so young. You might not have had the chance to experience much yet.” Punch.
Jay chuckled. “Oh, you mean R.A.S. on a global scale? I may know a thing or two about it, hyung. Or what about the time when my crying face was captured again on a global scale but Jungwon’s face was so calm and peaceful?”
Soonyoung shook his head. “Okay, I take it back.” Punch.
“But this is about you, hyung. Let’s hear it.”
Soonyoung adjusted his stance. “I’m angry, Jay. Very angry.” Punch.
“About what, hyung?”
“About this whole situation. I’ve known Mingyu since Samuel Kim was an eleven year old boy.” Punch.
“And now he’s my age.” Jay completed. “Yep, that’s a long time hyung.”
“So I don’t understand how he could waylay our friendship like this and disrespect me and my relationship with Tessa.” Punch.
“But then again, Gyu is not this reckless.” Punch.
“He can sometimes get emotional yes but he’s very good at controlling his emotions.” Punch.
“He understands that we are under contract and should always put the job first.” Punch.
“So as much as I am frustrated about the whole situation….” Punch.
“I can’t bring myself to hate him.” Punch.
“And then I see how uncomfortable Tessa is so we’re back to square one.” Punch.
“Confusion.” Jay said.
“Yes.” Punch.
Jay stood up straight. “Hyung, whatever he does is all going to be for naught anyway. Just try to be as composed as you can be and talk to him. I wouldn’t recommend not doing anything. It might aggravate the situation.”
Soonyoung was silent for a second. “Thank you for stopping me earlier, Jay.”
The younger idol nodded. “Hyung, there’s no need for thanks. I just did what I thought was right.”
Soonyoung looked at him and pat him on the shoulder.
“Now I know you have some combinations in you. Let’s see them, hyung.” Jay teased, lightening the mood.
Thirty minutes later, Sunoo walked into the gym.
Soonyoung was removing his hand wraps while Jay was on the floor doing some push-ups.
“Jay-Hyung?” Sunoo called and Jay looked up.
“Oh hey Sunoo.”
Sunoo’s hair was slightly damp and he looked like he had just taken a shower. “You both didn’t join the rest of us at the pool earlier.” He sat down beside Jay.
“Yeah, we wanted to spar for a bit.” Jay said.
“After dancing?” Sunoo asked.
“Don’t I do that normally though?” Jay countered. “Plus Soonyoung-hyung still had a lot of energy left.”
Sunoo snickered. “Of course, he famously did World, Cheers and Tiger in one day.”
Soonyoung gathered the hand wraps he had just removed and walked towards the duo. “It sounds so amazing, doesn’t it? But you guys know how jampacked our schedules usually are. You have to fit a million things in twenty four hours.”
“Except sleep.” Jay agreed.
“I used to wonder why idols ate a lot on VLives.” Sunoo shared. “Guess cause it’s the only available time.”
An awkward silence fell on the three. All of them silently acknowledged how absolutely crazy their lives were.
However, there was also that acknowledgment that they trained for this and being singers, dancers and performers is what they signed up for.
Sunoo broke the silence. “Speaking of VLives, I almost forgot why I came to look for you in the first place, Jay-hyung.”
Jay looked at Sunoo.
“Jungwon called. He reminded me that the three of us were scheduled to do one today.”
“Hyung, think Tessa-noona would allow us to do that here?” Jay asked the performance leader.
“Of course, Jay. Just choose one of the guest rooms and set up your area against a white wall.” Soonyoung suggested.
“But there aren’t any staff around.” Sunoo reminded them both.
“Tessa can take care of it.” Soonyoung promised.
“But hyung, she’s from Pledis not Be:Lift.” Sunoo reminded him politely.
Soonyoung snickered. “I’ll ask her to talk to your manager. It will be fine, Sunoo. Nothing to worry about.”
Sunoo stood up. “Alright, let me go get Ni-ki.”
Jay stood up as well. “I’m coming with.”
“Let me call Tessa and ask her to talk to your manager for you. You kids best behave, though. This is work. Plus its Tessa’s credibility that we’re banking on here.” Soonyoung reminded the two.
“Hyung!” Sunoo exclaimed. “When have we not behaved?”
Jay placed both his hands on Sunoo’s shoulders and guided him out the door. “Uh, there’s no need to answer that hyung. Let’s go, Sunoo-yah.”
Soonyoung laughed. “Alright, alright. Off you go, you two.”
Sunoo waved to the older as he was practically forced out the gym.
“And Jay?” Soonyoung called.
Jay turned to look at his hyung.
“Thank you.”
