I don't understand Gabriel's motive here but he certainly is a fucking asshole. I can see through that asshole and I can tell he is using that girl.

When I was 7 years old, my mother, Rosalia took me to the adoption center from where the man Ignacio Santiago adopted her at age 7. It was the age when her life changed and everything else became lies after.
She took me because she wanted to show me her childhood and how she wanted mine to be different from hers and my father's.
They both experienced tragedy and loss at such a young age and they always wanted happiness for me and Rosaura.
The adoption center was old, and few children were left there at the time. And that's where I ended up meeting Gabriel. He was one of the few children left there.
He been there for a few years already, he was a loner.
Until I wanted him to be my friend, he was my passage to happiness and a normal childhood. Since when I never had friends because of my last name and my family's reputation, it made the kids when I was little stay away. But seeing Gabriel be in the same place my mother was at, gave me hope for something different.
My mother wanted me to have a good friend, a best friend to depend on and have a great friendship since she never had that as a teenager.
I was going over there so much that I wanted Gabriel to be my brother. It was a wild thought at such a young age but my bond with Gabriel grew strongly where it felt like we were brothers.
But my mother knew we couldn't adopt especially since his history was unknown. She didn't want to adopt him into our lifestyle without knowing that he might end up wanting a different lifestyle as he grows up. It was unfair to force him into ours.
So, my mother took me there every Friday, so I was able to comfort Gabriel and be his friend. It felt weird at first, but it became a normal routine.
Madrid loves my mother, so her presence felt like good luck and a symbol of power. So, they were fine with our weekly visits.
As we kept visiting over the years, she started to fund the adoption center and make it a better place.
