I was running through Kings Cross station when I finally spotted the person I was meant to be meeting, my trunk rolling across the ground and my coffee brown cat perched upon my shoulder.
The Hogwarts Express was set to leave in ten minutes and although I considered herself to be quite an organized person, I was never on time for it.
"Cedric!!" I called out, my voice slightly straining since I had lost it near the end of the summer.
Me and Cedric have been close since we were toddlers, the Quinn's and the Diggory's were known to be associated with each other, to the point where people always asked if we were related.
I had spent the first half of the summer with the Diggory's and the last few weeks of it at the Burrow with the Weasleys, hence why I lost her voice.
Luckily Cedric heard my first call and quickly rushed over, a grin prominent on his face as he pulled me into an embrace.
"I thought I was going to have to leave without you!" He rolled his eyes and bent down to pick up my trunk, helping me carry it to the doors of the train, which was already filled with students, including the new first years.
The two of us boarded the train, squeezing through the crowds in order to do so. Trying to find open seats in time was one of the most stressful things we had to do when September rolled around.
"Are you sitting with my group, or yours?" Cedric looked back over his shoulder at me once he finally reached where his friends were sat.
I hesitated and scanned over them before turning back to my best friend, "Uh, I think I'll sit with mine."
He nodded and quickly waved me goodbye as I was dragged down the corridor by the other students, almost like I was trapped in a strong current.
I could already feel my heart racing, overwhelmed by the lack of space and loud noises, praying that I would spot some familiar faces soon. I was still debating on whether I would sit with the Gryffindors of Hufflepuffs.
"Aurelia!" Someone grabbed my arm as I was passing a booth with open doors.
I immediately recognized the voice to be Hannah Abbott, a Hufflepuff I had grown quite close with in comparison to the rest.
I was friendly with all the Hufflepuffs, but I would be lying if I said that I felt closest to them over some of the Gryffindors. Cedric was the only one I knew I could definitely trust.
I never understood why I felt so separate from them all, but I never had any bad blood, so I was happy about that.
That was one thing I couldn't stand, people hating me. Ever since I joined Hogwarts in my first year, the smallest nasty comments could send me into tears, which just encouraged more.
"Oh, thank god, I was beginning to get lost in that crowd." I let out a sigh of relief as U moved into the booth, taking a seat next to Hannah.
Opposite them was Ernie Macmillan and Susan bones, both also Hufflepuffs who rarely got along, so it wasn't a surprise to see them arguing.
"I bet he's even on this train somewhere!" Ernie whispered, glancing around cautiously.
I frowned, my curiosity peaking at the seemingly heated debate that the two of them were having.
Susan scoffed and turned her attention to me, "Sirius Black. Ernie seems to think that he is going to try and get into Hogwarts, which is impossible."
"It's not impossible! You're just too scared to face the facts." Ernie stared out the window, avoiding eye contact with his fellow Hufflepuffs, not wanting to see their disapproving expressions.
